The Autism Society is accepting applications for new board members. We are looking for candidates that are passionate about making a meaningful impact in the autism community and are ready to be an active participant in the work of our organization.
Previous nonprofit board experience is highly valued, but it is not required. We also welcome candidates who are new to board service but are motivated, dependable, collaborative, and ready to roll up their sleeves and contribute. Autism Society Tidewater Virginia is a working board, which means our board members do more than attend meetings. Members participate in committees, help move projects forward, and are expected to support and attend community programs, fundraisers, and special events as their schedules allow.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have the time and capacity to be actively involved. Professionals at all career stages are encouraged to apply, and retirees who want to use their experience, skills, and connections to make a difference in their community are especially welcome.
At this time, we have a particular need for individuals with experience or demonstrated strengths in fundraising, grant writing, accounting/finance, program development, event planning, and project management. We are also seeking individuals with strong professional or community networks who can help us develop relationships with businesses, corporate partners, potential sponsors, foundations, and philanthropic donors.
Most importantly, we are looking for doers—people who can take an idea or assignment, work collaboratively with others, and help carry it through to completion.
If you have the experience, connections, creativity, or simply the motivation and time to help our organization expand its impact, we would love to hear from you.
