There’s cooking… and then there’s cooking with FIRE. 🔥🌿

Today I took these oxtails back to the elements—slow smoking over an open hearth, wrapped and layered with plantain leaves so the meat could catch that deep earthy smoke while holding onto all those rich juices.

Then came the purple yam and pumpkin… soaking up everything happening in that pot. 🤌🏾

This is the kind of cooking that speaks to something deeper in me.

Fire.
Earth.
Smoke.
Time.
Intuition.

No rushing the process. No trying to make every piece look perfect. Just tending the fire, watching the food transform, and letting my senses tell me when it’s ready.

The oxtails came out rich, tender and deeply flavored, with that unmistakable taste you only get when food has actually spent time with smoke and flame.

I’m falling more and more in love with hearth cooking because it feels less like following a recipe and more like remembering. 🔥

Food prepared with intention just hits different.

Would you eat a plate of these? 👀🔥

Self-care doesn’t always have to be elaborate. Sometimes it’s warm water, intentional touch, and giving your body a few quiet minutes to catch up with you. 🌿🦶🏾

For this botanical mineral foot ritual, I used repurposed herbal pulp and infused-oil residue from my ginger tonic, along with magnesium flakes, Epsom salts, and rosemary essential oil.

While my feet soaked, I massaged them directly in the warm water—working through the arches, heels, toes, and ankles.

Why it felt so good:

✨ Warm water helps the tissues soften and encourages relaxation.
✨ Foot massage stimulates sensory receptors, eases muscular tension, and brings awareness back into an area of the body that works hard for us every day.
✨ Epsom salt and magnesium flakes create a soothing mineral bath that many people find comforting for tired, overworked feet.
✨ Rosemary adds an uplifting, refreshing aromatic element to the experience.
✨ Bare feet on the grass afterward became the perfect transition from self-care into grounding and stillness.

What I love most is that this ritual also reflects how I work with plants: use them fully, respectfully, and intentionally.

The tonic nourished me.
The botanicals were infused into oil.
And even the remaining plant material found another purpose.

Nothing wasted. Everything honored.

Sometimes wellness isn’t about adding more.

Sometimes it’s about slowing down enough to receive what’s already here.

❄️ The body remembers what it has been through — even after it has healed.

This client has had a knee replacement, and this session was about supporting the body where it is now.

Using the SubZero localized cryo machine, I brought focused cold therapy to the knee to help soothe the area, calm soreness and swelling, and give the surrounding tissues a different kind of therapeutic input.

But I’m never only looking at the knee.

After a major surgery, the body learns new movement patterns. It protects. It compensates. It shifts weight differently. My work is about listening to those changes and helping the body find more ease, mobility, and trust in movement again.

Sometimes healing needs pressure.
Sometimes it needs movement.
Sometimes it needs cold. ❄️

The tool may change.
The intention is always the same: meet the body where it is and support where it wants to go.

7 years ago… and the hands already knew. ✨

Watching this back reminds me that Journey Bodyworks was never built around simply “giving massages.” I was already listening differently—watching how the tissue responded, feeling where the body guarded, following the fascia, and letting my hands have a conversation with the nervous system.

Years later, the work is deeper. More intentional. More refined. More me.

The tools have expanded.
The science has expanded.
My understanding of the body has expanded.
But the foundation is still the same:

Listen. Feel. Respond. Don’t force.

The body will tell you what it needs when you learn how to hear it.

This is why I call myself a body mechanic. I’m not chasing symptoms. I’m looking at patterns, compensation, movement, tension, energy—and the whole human being on my table.

Seven years of evolution… and I’m still learning from every body I touch. 🌿👐🏽

Journey Bodyworks — where bodywork becomes body awareness.

Cupping a bald head is definitely an experience! 😂✨

But beneath the laughter, there is intention. The scalp holds tension too—especially around the temples, forehead, jaw and base of the skull. Gentle cupping creates space within the superficial tissues, supports local circulation and gives the nervous system another invitation to soften.

At Journey Bodyworks, I listen beyond where the discomfort speaks. Sometimes the body leads me to places you never imagined needed attention. Every session is its own journey—and clearly, no area is off limits. 😂

I’m embracing my hearth cooking—where food, fire, nature and intention meet. 🔥🌿

This red snapper was seasoned with fresh herbs, lemon, lime and orange, along with the ginger pulp left over from making my homemade ginger beer. I wrapped it in plantain leaves and let it slow-cook over the open fire.

The leaves held in all that moisture while the fire added a delicate layer of smoke. When I opened the bundles, the fish was tender, juicy and falling right off the bones—bright citrus, warm ginger, fresh herbs and just enough fire in every bite.

Nothing wasted. Everything transformed. This is more than cooking for me—it’s connection, creativity and remembering something ancient within myself.

The hearth is becoming one of my favorite places to be. 🔥🐟🍃

The hands that create art deserve care too.

He’s a tattoo artist—so his body is the quiet workspace behind every piece. Long hours leaning in, holding tension, staying still while his hands do the storytelling.

He came in with shoulder restriction, nerve discomfort, and low back pain. Now, because we’ve been consistent twice a month, we don’t start from scratch. I know his patterns—where he locks up, where he compensates, where stress shows up first.

Today was all about opening the shoulder and upper back. Arm extended, slow intentional work, meeting the tissue where it is instead of forcing it.

I used my stainless steel tool to help release deeper restriction, then finished with the Terahertz wand to calm everything down and bring the body back to center.

This is what consistency does—it builds trust, awareness, and real change over time.

He’s moving better, hurting less, and most importantly—he’s starting to feel his body before it screams at him.

It’s not just about relief. It’s about longevity in the work he loves.

🔥 There’s just something about cooking over an open fire…

I seasoned my rabbit, took it outside and browned it right over the fire before adding it to the cast iron with onions, celery, vegetables, herbs from my garden and a little dandelion from the yard. 🌿

Then I just let the fire do what fire does.

Tending the wood. Adjusting the pot. Tasting the broth. No rushing it. Just paying attention and letting my intuition tell me what it needed.

And of course, I fed the fire a little too. 🔥

By the end, the rabbit was falling off the bone and that broth… BABY. 😂 Rich, smoky, herbal and even better the next day.

I’ve had this cast-iron pot and tripod for years because I always imagined myself making a stew exactly like this.

I finally did it.

Maybe I wasn’t waiting to use the pot.
Maybe I was waiting to meet my hearth. 🔥🌿

Some healing can’t happen inside four walls.

Today’s session unfolded beneath a 100+ year-old oak tree.

While my hands worked with the body, the oak held the space.

Its roots reminded us to ground.
Its branches created a living sanctuary.
Its shade slowed the nervous system before the first touch.

This wasn’t a spa treatment.

It was an invitation to remember that we are nature.

For four hours, we moved with the rhythm of the earth…

🌿 A full-body mineral clay application, returning the body to the elements.

🌹 A botanical immersion infused with fresh roses, pine, and herbs gathered with intention.

🎶 Crystal singing bowls filling not just the ears, but the spaces inside the body that words can never reach.

🤲🏾 Therapeutic bodywork guided by anatomy, intuition, and decades of listening to what tissue has to say.

🕯️ Before leaving, she dressed her own candle with intentions of love and abundance, carrying a piece of today’s experience back into her everyday life.

This isn’t luxury.
It’s remembering that healing has always belonged to the earth.

At Journey Bodyworks, I don’t just work on the body.

I create an ecosystem where the body feels safe enough to heal.

If you’ve never experienced bodywork beneath an ancient oak, surrounded by birdsong, fresh botanicals, sound frequencies, and intentional touch…

You haven’t experienced Journey Bodyworks.

Another weekly client experience at Journey Bodyworks.
This wasn’t just massage therapy… this was nervous system restoration.

Slow intentional bodywork.
Sound. Breath. Frequency.
Compression. Stretching. Circulation.
Creating safety in the body so it can finally let go.

Every session reminds me that healing is not about force.
It’s about listening long enough for the body to speak. ✨

At Journey Bodyworks, we move at the pace of your nervous system.
