Play is known as the child's way to communicate with the world, and we are so lucky that our counselor, Taylor, knows the language!

Taylor is our LPC-IT and she loves spending time with children and adolescents to provide them a space to use the language they are most comfortable using, whether it be with dress up, crafts, board games, or responsibly using her slingshot.

Taylor is planning on channeling her inner Glinda today to celebrate International Day ofd Play, as one is never too old to play!

If you would like to set up a FREE 45 minute consultation with Taylor, please reach out to us at 715-954-8484

To-Do lists can be a lifesaver to remember what you all need to be done today, this week, or in general... but what if the to do list is getting too long and it becomes overwhelming?

Or maybe you're feeling a little more depressed and you can't find the motivation to get the to-do list started.

When To-Do lists become too much, try out a "Ta-Da!" list instead. Hear me out.
Have you had a day recently where you completed a lot of tasks, but since you didn't get everything on to the To-Do list done, so it feels like you got nothing done? "Ta-Da!" lists allow you to take a few minutes at the end of the day to write down and reflect on everything you did do today. No need to stress on the things that can be completed tomorrow, look at everything you did today!

Striving to become a better person is a part of the human experience. We are capable of many things, so there's nothing wrong with reaching for the stars with goals!

Some goals often start off as overwhelming because they seem too big. These goals are often vague with little guidance on how to achieve them. You can make a overwhelming goal manageable by breaking down what the goal means.

Take the picture for example. The goal is to be smarter. That's a great vision, but HOW is this goal going to be achieved? Now look at the same goal but broken down. We can become smarter by studying for tests, reading books, asking questions, and participating in class. Now that we know how to achieve the goal, we can achieve this goal!

We can even make this goal into a SMART one!
Specific: Become smarter by studying, reading, asking questions, and participating in class.
Measurable: by watching how grades in school fluctuate or by taking quizzes on topics that are gone over in books.
Attainable: "Are you able to complete the tasks above? Do we need to break this goal down even more?"
Relevant: "Is doing the specific tasks going to help me achieve my vision?"
Time-Bound: When are you going to check in with yourself to see your progress on your goal? Daily? Weekly? Monthly?

Reframing thoughts can be hard. This is because our brains are wired to be more negative than positive. Since our brains are wired to be negative, it can be hard to break a negative cycle. We believe that by reframing small thoughts, that will help break the negative cycle so you can show more compassion to yourself.

Your thoughts, like your mental health, matter, let's talk about it!

As we close out Mental Health Awareness Month, we would like to challenge our local business owners to continue advocating for better mental health practices in the workplace.

Brain Energy can help with that! We offer FREE Lunch and Learn opportunities to come to your business over your lunch break to talk about a mental health topic that directly affects your business. Some examples of workshops we have done include self-care, burnout, communication, boundaries, and so much more!

We can also meet with executives to talk about how Brain Energy Services can directly help your business.

We’re so lucky to have our counselors paying it forward!

Up next, let's meet one of our board members!🎉
This is Rachelle Filipiak, MS, LPC. She choose to volunteer with NAMI Northwoods because she believes that it is important to have the most up to date resources and connections to mental health. Rachelle's favorite mental health resource is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). One fun fact about her is that her favorite way to practice self-care is being on a lake!
Welcome, Rachelle!
