When we're talking' favorites around our garden of good intentions, Miss Calendula, will forever be at the top of the list.
🌼 Calendula flowers bloom all season and are vibrant with a wide range of sunset hues in various of shades of yellows and oranges. This variety we are currently growing at home is a beautiful Strawberry Blonde.
🌼 Growing low maintainence Calendula at home is simple as can be and, as a peacekeeper and steadfast garden friend, she'll makes a great companion plant to your fruits, veggies, herbs and flowers.
🌼 Keeping a hearty stock of Calendula on hand is a must for us and, because she's so generous with her flower production, growing and drying this plant at home assures we always have a readily accessible supply throughout the year for our infusions.
🌼 Used topically, Calendula, is queen of the skin scene! You'll often find herbalists making infused oils of her dried whole flowers to use as the base for all sorts of supportive salves and balms. Some of our favorite ways to work with Calendula-infused oils are by incorporating her into wound salves, rash salves, diaper rash balms and lip balms.
🌼 Calendula also makes for an awesome, stand-alone infused oil, that can be used to nourish and bring elasticity to the tired, dry skin. Try using her as a body or face oil or pouring a little into your bath water (if you haven't tried herbal oils in your bath yet, 10/10 recommend).
🌼 Internally, with her anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and mild demulcent properties Calendula is a fantastic option for your digestive herbal teas and tonic infusions. She's a first choice for us when signs of chronic gut inflammation are present (and if you live here in good ole USA 2026, chances are, you've got some gut inflammation).
🌼 We also love including Calendula in our herbal tea infusion blends as a gentle mover of stagnant lymphatic fluid, potentially helping to clear cellular waste without being overstimulating or taxing. In turn, this makes for more robust immune system function.
🌼 At our apothecary, we sell whole dried Calendula and feature her in our Wound Warrior Balm, Skintastic Salve and Naked Oil.
