🎀 Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀
October is a good reminder that breast cancer recovery is about more than just getting through surgery — it’s also about giving your body the support it needs to heal.
If you or someone you know has recently had a mastectomy or breast reconstruction, you may have heard of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT).
HBOT involves breathing oxygen in a pressurised chamber, helping to increase oxygen levels reaching the body’s tissues. This can support the healing of surgical wounds and, in some cases, help when tissue isn’t healing as expected.
It’s not a treatment for the cancer itself, but it can be a useful supportive therapy for certain post-surgical healing concerns.
At Recoverite in Bryanston, we see people from our local community using HBOT as part of their recovery journey. 💗
If you, a friend or family member is recovering from breast surgery and would like to know more about whether HBOT could be appropriate, we’re happy to have a chat and point you in the right direction.
