And just like that….
Our final class comes to an end. My fourth year in the Advanced Clinical Herbalist Program comes to an end-I never thought I’d see this day. The first two years were an absolute blur, full of grief and loss. But this second round-I gave it my all, not without times of despair and thoughts of giving up. Through all the travel, busy schedule and a demanding job, I made it happen-from airports, in community, on vacation lol. You name it.

I’m so unbelievably fortune to have such a kind, caring teacher and class mates that help to lift me up when I couldn’t.

I am so thankful for my family, staff and colleagues for allowing me (forcing me) to make space for my learning and my studies so I can get to this point

Not only have I learned so much about plants, energetics, photochemistry, botany, TCM, clinical care……I have learned so much about myself in this process, and I have grown SO much as a herbalist.
I can honestly say I feel so incredibly proud of myself for getting to this point. Completing my advanced clinical program and feeling the confidence I need to really support people with plants.

While I am absolutely taking a well-earned break, I have some really big plans to shift back into medicine making and supporting folks in a really good way and I feel ready with the knowledge and confidence I have now.

I’m here to take up space in the Herb world as a Clinically Trained Indigenous Herbalist. Making my kokum & capan proud 💗🙌🏽

So thankful 🙏🏽 Colleen Emery, Cl.H, RHT (BCHA)

Happy Herbalist Day 🌱🌱

I’m so grateful to have been called to this work. And I am absolutely longing for days on the land. I’m so out of sorts from such a long winter behind the computer.

I am so thankful for all my herbie friends and teachers I’ve met along the way. 🫶🏽

🌿 A Big Step for Omisimaw Wellness → Omisimaw Acres 🌿

Nestled along the banks of the Athabasca River, surrounded by trails and endless forest, this land has quietly held so many moments for us, early mornings in the garden, hands in the soil, learning, healing, laughter around the cabin, and the kind of peace you can only find on the land.

It’s where medicine has grown, where ideas have taken root, and where we’ve begun to shape something bigger than ourselves.

And now… we get to keep it in the family!

We’re so grateful to share that we’ve officially purchased the property where our medicine garden and cabin sit. Keeping this land in our family means it will continue to be a place of connection, rest, and growth-for our family, our friends, and our community.

As we expand our medicine garden, we’re also stepping into something new—Omisimaw Acres. A space for growing medicines and sharing the process, and creating something that will flourish for generations to come.

There’s a deep sense of peace knowing this space is protected. That the medicines will continue to grow. That this land will hold and support future generations.

More to come 🌱
