But “fully healed” doesn’t just mean your incisions closed, or when your stitches are gone.

After surgery, your body can continue healing internally for 6 months to over a year, depending on the procedure. Swelling, fluid retention, fibrosis, and tissue irregularities can still develop long after the early recovery stage.
