How a cold sore be cured with one acupuncture treatment?

During first visit, we used acupuncture as a supportive treatment for a cold sore caused by Herpes simplex virus type 1. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, cold sores are often associated with “heat” and inflammation in the body. Acupuncture aims to help clear this heat, reduce inflammation, and promote the smooth flow of energy (Qi) and blood to the affected area.

Very fine, sterile needles were gently placed around the corner of your lip and nearby points on the face. This localized approach helps improve circulation, reduce swelling, and support your body’s natural immune response. Many patients also find the treatment calming, which can be beneficial since stress is a common trigger for cold sore outbreaks.

After your treatment, the area showed clear signs of improvement. The redness and swelling decreased, and the lesion began to dry and form a light crust , both positive indicators that healing is underway. Patient will continue to see gradual improvement over the next few days.
