We visited the Great Auk Winery in Twillingate NL today. Loved the names of their fruit wines.

We sampled several of them and the ones I liked best were the ones made with rhubarb.

Since rhubarb is in season right now, here’s a shout out to its health benefits: its bright pink and red stalks are packed with powerful antioxidants that neutralize free radicals and reduce oxidative stress - especially when not consumed as alcohol! 🤣

Loving the ice cream flavours on Fogo Island NL! I tried both of these and they were sooooooo good!

I often use dried kelp flakes as a salt substitute. Among its MANY health benefits, kelp is one of the best natural sources of iodine which is needed to produce thyroid hormones which regulate metabolism and growth.

While I doubt kelp ice cream is a healthy way to get natural iodine, it sure was a uniquely delicious treat! 😋🍦🌱

Our first mixed greens/lettuce harvest - including some dandelion leaves from the lawn!

I’m making some mini turkey patties in advance to have on hand for a bunch of little guests that will be coming soon. I’m boosting the nutritional content by adding some grated cheese, some oats, an egg, and the tippy top of some steamed broccoli florettes.

Freshly picked asparagus from our garden and into our tummies as an asparagus frittata in less than 10 minutes! I am so excited as this is the first year I can enjoy substantial harvests! I started these from seed, so had to wait 3-4 years for a harvest.

Asparagus is rich in fibre, iron, zinc, folate, vitamin K, and antioxidants. Its health benefits include:

Is Your Helmet Still Safe? Most People Never Check.

With spring here, bikes, scooters, and outdoor play are back — but there’s one thing many people overlook: helmet safety.

A helmet only works if it’s in good condition and fits properly.

Quick helmet safety check:
- Age: Helmets should be replaced every 5–10 years (or sooner if damaged)
- Crash history: If it’s been in a crash — even a small one — replace it
- Fit: The front of the helmet should sit no more than two fingers above the eye brows
- Straps: Snug under the chin (you should only fit one finger) and the v should be right below the ear
- Movement: It shouldn’t shift when your child shakes their head

Why it matters: Most impacts in bike accidents happen to the front and side of the head — exactly where poor fit leaves gaps.

Whether it’s a quick ride around the block or a trip to the park, a properly fitted helmet makes a huge difference. Take 60 seconds today and check — it’s one of the simplest ways to prevent serious injury.

I managed to get my cabbage, kale, and many varieties of lettuce seedlings into the ground before the rain starts this afternoon.
