I took my first Yoga Teacher Training in 2006 in Toronto. I had fallen in love with hot yoga in 1999, the way it made me feel, and the community I met. I was a photographer part time, but every other job I had left me feeling like I was living for the weekend, wishing the time away, I had not found my purpose. I applied for teacher training, and as it drew closer I was bloody nervous, what strange cult was I about to be pulled into, how many hours was I going to spend with a room of strangers sweating.
From the first day, it felt so right. Learning the moves, getting so deep into the practice from physical, to the deeper levels of yoga history and philosophy turned on a part of my spirit that forever grew from that day. I was excited every day to get to the training, to learn and absorb the depths of everything Yoga.
I still was not sure about teaching, I was very shy and quiet, and was not thinking I would or could teach, I was not sure, but the depth it gave my life and my practice was paramount.
Sharing yoga, having this community, is one of the best things in my life that keeps me going, gives me purpose, and I am never done learning.
