I joined this collective in the early spring seeking a place to be of service that was q***r and neurodivergent friendly.. and I have been so blown away by how quickly it felt like I belonged here; like these were my people; like this was exactly where I was supposed to be. Anyone who walks in the door at the Regina Food Bank on a Saturday morning is welcomed with warm smiles and genuine gratitude. There’s an energy of “come as you are, stay as long as you like, and do what you can”. Here, there is no judgment, only acceptance and open arms. I am so grateful to have found this beautiful community!

In an effort show my gratitude and build connections within the group but outside the kitchen, the Uplands Community Center has generously allowed us to use their space to offer a Community Yoga Class on October 16th at 7PM.

This class will be FREE FOR VOLUNTEERS of The Matriarchs Collective AND members of the collective will get first dibs on the limited spots available.
Any spaces that aren’t filled by TMC will be opened to the general public for Drop In by Donation, with all donations directed towards The Matriarchs Collective (minimum $15 donation suggested).

Stay tuned for available spaces and other opportunities to practice with us! 🤍

It’s baaack!

My “time out” this Summer allowed me to reconnect deeply with this medicine and I am ready to begin offering it out again, seasonally.

We invite you to join us for Community Kirtan on October 9th from 7PM on at the Uplands Community Center for an evening of devotion and community connection.

This FREE offering includes Grounding Practices, Sharing Circle, Breathwork, Mantra Chanting & Sound Healing, Meditation, and time at the end of practice to connect with community while enjoying some tasty snacks.

You may choose to engage in the practice with your voice or simply be in the energy of the space in silence. Both options are equally valuable. No experience or talent required - Bhakti is a practice of devotion, not a performance.

Please bring your own mat, water bottle and/or warm tea, a small edible offering to share with the group, and an optional cash donation for our charity this season Bright Eyes Dog Rescue (BEDR) !

This offering is open to ALL for FREE with a valid Community Membership (memberships available for $5 at the event)!

To register, please message me Katelyn Michelle: Holistic Yoga & Healing

Morning practice has become a fun little routine for Cedric. He tries desperately to pull my attention away from my practice to play with him instead. He cannot stand not being the center of attention - typical only dog syndrome. Lately, he’s gotten into the habit of bringing his toys up to the yoga studio one by one to entice play as I try to smudge and stretch and find my center.. until the harmonium comes out and he FINALLY settles down to absorb the medicine of mantra and the healing vibrations of sound.

Today’s toy count was a mere 4.. some days it’s as many as 8! 😂

If you’re not familiar with The Matriarchs Collective , we are a grassroots mutual aide collective seeking to serve and support underserved communities in and around Regina.

In order to do this, we rely on good humans like yourselves for donations of food, water, reusable bags, food containers, clothing, hygiene products, etc.

Currently we are putting a call out for donations of:
✨Extra Garden Produce (if you’re feeling like you cannot possibly eat any more zucchini or you aren’t able to keep up with your tomatoes or the thought of another salad makes you want to cry.. we are happy to take those veggies off your hands.. or the apples from your tree!!)
✨Reusable Bags (I know you’ve got a hoard in the trunk of your car *cough, Dad*.. do you really need 50 of them? Probably not lol but we do!)
✨Food Containers (whether it’s plastic yogurt/sour cream/cottage cheese/etc containers or your old take out containers.. as long as it’s clean and has a lid, we will take it!)

As yogi’s we strive to be of service to the community, to see and serve the light in others that also lives in ourselves.. here is a a simple and meaningful opportunity to do sprinkle some good around.

You can bring your donations to Community Yoga at the Uplands Community Center on Thursdays OR contact me to arrange an alternate time/place for collection.

Thank you in advance for your support! 🤍

As promised, here are the books I read (or re-read) during my “time out” this summer. 📚

It was interesting, but not surprising, that each of these carried the same thread of consciousness throughout.. The medicine contained here is the reminder that we are all one, that everything is energy, we create our own reality, and love is the answer.

I would highly recommend you add each of these to your personal reading list, but if you had to choose just one, something simple yet profound.. I would suggest The Four Agreements, which (along with Deborah Adele’s The Yamas & Niyamas) has come to live on my bedside table as if it were my Bible. Or Zen and the Art of Happiness, which is a super quick and easy read that holds within it the capacity to change your entire life if you only surrender to the belief that, “Everything that happens to me is the best possible thing that can happen to me.”

Enjoy! 📖

Our Fall Session of Community Yoga begins Thursday, September 10th at the Uplands Community Center! 🍂

We have two classes available for registration -

🤍Slow Flow at 6:00PM🤍

This class weaves together breath and embodied movement as medicine for the soul. Classes include an opening Grounding Meditation, Community Sharing Circle, Breathwork Practices, and Slow Flowing Yoga Postures.

&

🤍Deep Rest at 7:15PM🤍

This class perfectly compliments Slow Flow by offering you the opportunity to slow down even more and sink deeper into yourself to find rest and nourishment in a loving container. This class includes Guided Breathwork, longer held Restorative Yoga Postures (with optional compassionate touch), and a variety of Meditation Practices (such as Yoga Nidra, Bhakti Yoga, and Sound Healing).

✨Register for one OR both classes at Registration Night on Tuesday, September 8th at the Uplands Community Center. Doors open at 6:30PM.

If you’re not able to commit to the season or you don’t end up snagging a registered space, not to worry! 🙌🏼

We will continue to open available spaces to our Drop In by Donation program where you can join us for only $10/class. This season we are collecting donations for Bright Eyes Dog Rescue (BEDR) and hoping to end the season with Puppy Yoga! 🐾
