Why isn't obesity recognised as a chronic disease in the UK?
65% of adults in England have a weight problem. Read that again: nearly two thirds.
This isn't a small subset of people it's the mainstream reality.
On World Obesity Day, itâs a number worth pausing on.
And it's costing the NHS a whopping ÂŁ11.4 billion every year.
But for some reason, the UK still doesnât formally recognise obesity as a chronic disease. Yet the WHO does.
Too many people are left navigating a system built around short-term interventions for what is, in reality, a long-term medical condition.
At Voy, we treat weight loss as a chronic condition that deserves specialist care. Not shame, judgement or another quick-fix diet.
Weight loss isn't about trying harder, it's about getting the right treatment.
Do you think obesity should be recognised as a chronic disease in the UK?
