A little food diary from our summer holidays ☀️🤰🏼
25 weeks pregnant, mum to a 3-year-old, and definitely not spending my days making complicated “healthy” meals 😂
We’ve had family picnics, date nights, meals out, lunches at home, quick dinners and plenty of meals that were basically just… chuck it all on a plate and call it dinner.
And honestly? That’s the point.
I know one of the hardest parts of feeding yourself (and everyone else!) during the school holidays is simply thinking **“what on earth am I going to make?”** So here’s a little inspiration if you’re in a food rut.
But there’s another thing I noticed when putting these together…
👉🏼 The majority of these meals have one thing in common: **colour.**
Salad, vegetables, fruit, herbs, whatever I had in the fridge. 🌈
Not because I was trying to make every meal “perfect” or because I was restricting anything else — but because adding some plants to my meals is an easy way to add fibre, vitamins, minerals, variety and volume.
And the rest? Everything from burgers and chips to pasta, sandwiches, ice cream and meals out. 🍝🍟🍦
Because nourishing yourself doesn’t have to mean complicated recipes, eating “clean” or cooking from scratch every single day.
Sometimes it’s a homemade meal with loads of veg.
Sometimes it’s a picnic.
Sometimes it’s dinner out with your family.
Sometimes it’s whatever you can throw together while your toddler is asking for the 47th snack of the day 😂
**Food freedom is being able to enjoy all of it. ❤️**
Save this for the next time you’re staring into the fridge thinking *“I have no idea what to eat.”*
