Now the new Welsh Government is in place, political parties across Wales must continue working to remove the barriers that exclude disabled people from political life.

Disabled people make up one fifth of the population in Wales, yet remain underrepresented across campaigning, leadership, decision-making and public participation.

The Access to Politics Charter sets out practical steps political parties can take to build a more accessible, inclusive and representative democracy.

Last week, we asked our members what accessibility means to them.

They told us it's all about equity and belonging.

Accessibility isn't a luxury. It creates more inclusive spaces and ensures people can engage and participate on equal terms.

Let’s bust some common misconceptions about accessibility this Global Accessibility Awareness Day. 🌍

Accessibility is essential for creating more inclusive spaces for disabled people, and it should never be considered a luxury or an afterthought.

It’s everyone’s responsibility.
