The ground beneath your feet was never meant to stay the same forever. Every version of you that kept you safe has an expiry date, and this week has a way of exposing the ones you've been dragging long after they stopped serving you. You can grip tighter if you want. It won't stop the ground moving. It will only leave your hands sore.

There comes a point where pretending becomes more exhausting than telling the truth. Not the truth you perform for other people. The one that wakes you at three in the morning. The one that whispers, this isn't your life anymore. Most people silence that voice because change asks for something terrifying. It asks you to let the old you die before you've met the new one.

You'll notice who becomes uncomfortable when you stop shrinking. You'll notice which conversations suddenly feel too small. Which rooms feel impossible to breathe in. That's not arrogance. That's what happens when your soul outgrows the cage your fear decorated to look like home.

Some doors don't open because you found the right key. They open because you finally stopped begging to be let in.
