We have 37 venues across Devon all located on a bus route and with disabled access.
It is important to attend your eye screening appointment, if the date, time or location of your appointment is not suitable, please contact us, we will do our best to rearrange a more suitable appointment.

💙 Could it be Type 2 Diabetes?

Type 2 diabetes can develop gradually, and many people may not notice the symptoms straight away.

Common signs include:
✅ Feeling more thirsty than usual
✅ Going to the toilet more often, especially at night
✅ Feeling tired all the time
✅ Blurred vision
✅ Unexplained weight loss
✅ Cuts or wounds taking longer to heal

Look out for the 4 Ts:
✅ Toilet - going to the toilet more often
✅ Thirsty - feeling unusually thirsty
✅ Tired - feeling more tired than usual
✅ Thinner - unexplained weight loss

If you or someone you know is experiencing these symptoms, don't ignore them. Early diagnosis can make a huge difference.

Another busy and successful week in Diabetic Eye Screening! 👁️

Over the past week, our teams have: ✅ Screened more than 1,500 patients ✅ Completed over 200 OCT scans ✅ Finalised more than 2,300 grades ✅ Made 14 referrals to Hospital Eye Services (HES) for further investigation

Every appointment, scan and assessment plays an important role in helping to detect sight-threatening complications early and protect patients' vision.

Eye drops used during screening can cause temporary blurred vision and sensitivity to light for a few hours afterwards.

✅ Consider how you'll travel home
✅ Bring sunglasses if it's sunny

☀️ Summer Holiday Travel Advice ☀️

With the summer holidays underway, roads are likely to be much busier than usual. Delays can happen at any time, especially when main routes are affected by accidents or road closures.

✅ Plan your journey in advance
✅ Allow extra travel time for your appointment
✅ Bring food, snacks, and water with you in case you're delayed on your journey home

Your safety is important when travelling to and from your diabetic eye screening appointment.

🚗 Please be aware that it is not recommended to drive yourself home after your appointment. The eye drops used during screening can make your eyes more sensitive to light and may cause blurred vision for several hours afterwards.

Where possible, arrange for someone to drive you, use public transport, or plan an alternative way home.

Stay safe, stay hydrated, and enjoy the summer. 💙
