Pigmentation is the concern I see people spend the most money on for the least return, and it's almost always because they're using products that aren't designed to address what's actually causing it.

The brightening serum market is enormous and the packaging is persuasive, but most of those products are working at the surface of the skin. The pigmentation that accumulates through decades of UV exposure sits deeper than that, which is why results tend to be inconsistent and easily undone the moment summer arrives. This post walks through why that happens, what actually interrupts melanin production at the source, and where in-clinic treatments fit into a properly structured plan for patients with more established sun damage.

If pigmentation is something you've been trying to address for a while without much progress, DM me 'PIGMENT' or tap the link in my bio to book a consultation. 🔗

Pigmentation is one of the most frustrating skin concerns to treat, and a lot of that frustration comes down to being sold the wrong solutions.

Brightening serums are everywhere, and the marketing around them is convincing. But most of them are working at the surface of the skin, which isn't where the problem lives.

The pigmentation that builds through your 40s and beyond is the result of decades of UV damage sitting deeper in the tissue, and that's exactly why so many people spend years cycling through products without seeing the results they're hoping for.

Let’s explore what's actually driving pigmentation, why SPF is non-negotiable before anything else will work, and what a properly structured protocol using prescription-strength ingredients looks like compared to what you'll find on a shelf 👉🏼

If this is something you've been struggling to shift, it's worth having a proper conversation about it.

This is one of the conversations I have most often in clinic, and it's worth having openly.

Spending money on skincare and not seeing results isn't always about the products themselves. In my experience, there are usually a handful of very specific reasons why a routine isn't working, and most of them are fixable once you know what to look for.

I've pulled them all together in this post, from the packaging claims that genuinely don't hold up, to why more products can actually work against you, to when skincare alone isn't going to be enough for what you're trying to address.

If your routine feels like a bit of a mystery right now, this one's for you 👉🏼

Upper lip lines are one of the concerns I get asked about most in clinic, and they're also one of the most misunderstood in terms of what actually helps.

The reason a single treatment rarely gives a satisfying result here is that this area is being pulled in multiple directions at once - structurally, at the skin quality level, and through constant muscle movement every single day. A plan that only addresses one of those things will always fall short, which is why I put this guide together to walk through exactly how I approach it.

Swipe to see the full treatment breakdown, including why I always start with skin quality before anything injectable, and how conservative filler in this area is a very different conversation to what most people imagine 👉🏼

I work a little differently from what you might expect. Most of my patients are in their late 30s, 40s and 50s. They've spent years being told what they should fix, and they're tired of being sold to. So I don't do that. I'll tell you what will actually make a difference to your skin, what won't, and where your money is better left in your pocket.

Good aesthetics should look like nothing happened at all. Just you, looking well-rested and like yourself. That's how I like to approach things.

If that's the kind of care you've been looking for, you're in the right place 🤍

Retinol is probably the ingredient I get asked about more than anything else, and I think it's because there's so much conflicting information out there about how to actually use it.

So I've put together a proper guide covering everything I go through with patients in clinic - from who should be using it and when, to how to introduce it without irritating your skin, and why the product you choose matters far more than most people realise 👉🏼

If you've ever started a retinol and given up because your skin reacted, or you've been using one for months and feel like nothing's happening, this one's for you.

Sculptra is the treatment I find myself recommending most to women in their 40s, and there's a very specific reason for that.

The changes that tend to bother people most at this stage aren't really a skin problem. The hollowing, the loss of structure, the way the face starts to look flat rather than lifted - that's collagen loss and volume depletion happening at a deeper level, and no topical product or surface treatment gets close to addressing it properly.

Sculptra works differently to anything else I offer because it uses your own body to rebuild what's been lost, rather than adding something from the outside.

So let's break down how it works, what the results actually look like over time, and who it tends to suit most, including patients who've been cautious about filler and haven't found what they were looking for yet 👉🏽

The skincare industry has convinced most people they need 10 products, a 20-minute routine, and a separate shelf for their serums. They don't.

In clinic, the patients with the best skin quality aren't the ones with the most products. They're the ones who've been consistent with the right ones. Cleanser, moisturiser, SPF every single morning, a good retinol, and vitamin C. That's it. That's the routine that actually moves the needle over time.

The complication gets sold to you because it's profitable. Ingredients with clinical evidence behind them aren't flashy, they're just effective, and they've been working quietly for decades while trends come and go.

Where it does get more targeted is when there's a specific concern, whether that's pigmentation, significant collagen loss, or texture changes that a standard routine can't address on its own. That's when prescription-strength ingredients and medical-grade protocols earn their place, but they work because of what's already been built underneath them.

If you're not sure whether your current routine is actually doing what you think it is, that's exactly the kind of thing I can help you with in clinic. 🔗 Link in bio to book a skin consultation.
