VOLUNTEER'S WEEK AT NEW DIRECTIONS
We are so very lucky and proud to have a group of wonderful volunteers across our organisation who contribute so much to making a difference to many people's lives and are valued members of our team.
Let us introduce Sam, who has been a volunteer at our North Hub living well day centre and New Leaf garden centre for four years and supports attendees with lots of fun, creative and inspiring activities and also assists those who need a little help with their meal times. Paula Scott who manages North Hub presented Sam with a thank you gift and card earlier today saying "Well done, you are a fabulous volunteer and make a massive contribution, which we are all so grateful for." Sam told Julie Harrison, Communications Manager "I love my role so much." Sam is in this photo with Stuart Heffy, Activities Lead from New Leaf garden Centre.
Huge congratulations, Sam from all at New Directions

South Hub has some very talented gardeners!
Our South Hub living well day opportunities centre for adults living with physical and learning challenges have been working hard all year to create and grow a beautiful flower garden.
The group of gardeners are very skilled and creative and held a flower sale last week offering the most beautiful hanging baskets, plants, tomato and other vegetable plants. I can tell you, the baskets and plants flew off their shelves.
Well done to you all - there are lots of your beautiful displays around Sefton and the Wirral, which are much enjoyed!!!

Working together in partnership
Monday 18th May Nikki Ferguson, Manager at South Hub and her Ambassador group invited Shared Lives Forum members and people from Supported Living to a get together. Everyone put forward ideas of activities and events that we could all join in together to meet up with friends, make new friends and maybe develop a romantic relationship too !
The members were enthusiastic and came up with lots of great suggestions
Everyone agreed that the afternoon had been a success generating so many ideas and in 4 weeks’ time the group will meet up again to form an action plan and start planning some events.
Thanks to South Hub for providing lots of goodies( shortbread, donuts, cup cakes and Twix ) that went down a treat and the tea and coffee in the best China cups !

Waterloo Park's relationship with the Kings Trust continues to literally flourish!
A group of young people from the Kings Trusts' Volunteering in the Community initiative visited Waterloo Park along with their team leaders Jon and Hayley.
The group gave Waterloo's garden a beautiful makeover, working tirelessly inside and out. The group, arranged an inside activity, pairing up with a person who attends the service, creating flower baskets. Outside the group painted, cleaned, weeded, planted and much more - our garden is transformed!
Everyone at Waterloo Park can't thank them enough for the gorgeous garden they handed over to us. This amazing intergenerational programme warms our hearts every time. We look forward to them visiting us again very soon.

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK
Our award winning performing arts centre, New Centre Stage performed an original mental health awareness production titled "Labels".

Using drama and powerful storytelling, Labels explored how mental health can often be shaped, judged, and “labelled” by the experiences and situations we face throughout life. The performance highlighted how everyday pressures, personal struggles, bullying and social expectations can contribute to a decline in mental wellbeing.

Our aim is to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and encourage open conversations around mental health. We believe that if we can inspire people to speak more openly, listen more compassionately, and support one another without judgement, then we have achieved our purpose.

The performance was delivered to some individuals who attend New Directions and the management team. It received incredibly positive feedback for its honesty, impact, and relevance.

We would now love the opportunity to offer Labels, more widely as part of Mental Health Awareness training across the company and throughout Sefton services, helping to continue important conversations around wellbeing, understanding, and compassion.
