nearly 500 people in the uk have salmonella right now, two cases have been fatal.

The likely cause? Eggs. 🍳

Salmonella is a type of bacteria that lives in the digestive tract of cows, pigs, and chickens, and is shed through their faeces.

Chickens only have one hole for their egg and their 💩, (the cloaca), so unless the chicken is vaccinated it’s very easy for the bacteria to seep inside the egg.

The current cases of salmonella in the uk are linked to imported eggs, and likely from takeaway food, but it’s worth giving a plant-based one like this a try as using something like tofu or this uses over 80% less land and 90% less water, has zero cholesterol and a much much lower risk of salmonella.

i’m opening a tiramisu pop-up shop!!

from a busy unit in a food hall that i had no clue how to run, to the grand prix, festivals, and now a real home just for tiramisu. YOU did that.

it’s a bit of a risk as i know you all low key want pasta too 🤣, but i felt like london was lacking a go-to tiramisu spot more so than pasta, and i want to learn how to grow & nurture this business first before delving into a proper brick & mortar restaurant (one day).

it’s not ready yet, but come watch me get it there.

sainsbury’s is recalling its milk.

i saw this notice today labelling it “unsafe to consume” due to the level of antibiotics it contained.

tldr: animals are fed antibiotics to prevent disease due to the conditions they are kept in.

we put more antibiotics into factory farmed animals than we do into people.

do that for long enough and bacteria stop responding to the drugs = that’s antibiotic resistance and the WHO calls it one of the biggest threats to human health.

those antibiotics that get you through surgery or that clear a normal chest infection will start to fail.

i’m not one to tell you how to eat, but a glass of milk is getting recalled for the drugs in it. that’s worth sitting with for a minute 🤣.
