Talking about feelings can feel really hard for some children and young people. Drawing can offer another way in a quieter, more natural way to explore thoughts, feelings and experiences without the pressure of having to “talk it all out”.

At Nat’s Nurture Hub, Drawing & Talking sessions provide a calm, child-led space where creativity and gentle conversation can help children feel heard, understood and supported. 💚

✨ But I’d love to hear from you…

Do you think your child would find it easier to talk about their feelings if they could draw at the same time?

👇 Comment YES, MAYBE or NOT SURE and tell me why!

You never know, your answer might help another parent realise that there are different ways to support their child. 🌱

🌱 A QUIET SUNDAY REMINDER

Children don’t need perfect parents.

They don’t need perfect teachers.

And they don’t need perfect support.

They need adults who are willing to:

Listen.
Learn.
Understand.
Try again.
And stay.

💚 TO THE PARENT WHO IS WORRIED ABOUT THEIR CHILD…

You aren’t failing.

You aren’t a bad parent.

You don’t need to know exactly what to do next.

You are allowed to ask for help.

And your child doesn’t have to be “struggling enough” to deserve support.

🌱 Sometimes early support can make a meaningful difference.

If you need to talk, reach out.

You don’t have to figure everything out alone. 💚

Save this for a day when you need to hear it.

✨ CONFIDENCE ISN’T ABOUT NEVER STRUGGLING

It’s about knowing:

💚 “I can ask for help.”

💚 “I can try again.”

💚 “It’s okay if something feels difficult.”

💚 “I don’t have to be perfect.”

💚 “There are things I’m really good at.”

Sometimes children need an adult who can see their strengths when they can’t see them yet.

That’s a big part of what wellbeing support can offer. 🌱

💚 A QUESTION FOR PARENTS

What do you wish someone had told you when your child first started struggling with their wellbeing?

I’ll start:

You don’t have to wait until things become a crisis before asking for support. 🌱

🌱 WHAT DOES A 1:1 NAT’S NURTURE HUB SESSION LOOK LIKE?

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all session.

Depending on the child, we might:

🧩 Build
🎨 Draw
💬 Talk
🎲 Play
🧠 Explore emotions
🌱 Work on confidence
💭 Explore worries
🏫 Talk about school
✨ Develop practical strategies

The aim isn’t to force a child to talk.

It’s to create a space where they can feel safe enough to be themselves.

Sessions can take place in education settings or at home.

🏫 “BUT THEY WENT IN YESTERDAY…”

One of the most difficult things about anxiety and school avoidance can be how unpredictable it feels.

A child may manage one day and struggle enormously the next.

That doesn’t necessarily mean they’re choosing when to struggle.

Capacity can change.

Stress can build.

And what looks manageable one day can feel impossible the next.

Instead of:

❌ “But you did it yesterday!”

Try:

💚 “Today feels harder. Let’s work out what has changed.”

Understanding comes before judgement. 🌱

💭 “I’M FINE.”

Sometimes “I’m fine” means:

“I don’t know how to explain it.”

“I’m worried you’ll be disappointed.”

“I don’t understand what I’m feeling.”

“I don’t want to talk about it yet.”

“I need you to sit with me.”

Children don’t always have the words.

Sometimes they need time, safety and connection before the words come.

🌱 That’s why child-centred support matters.
