How can sugar age our skin? 👀

You already know microneedling is great for stimulating collagen, but let’s talk about the other benefits:

1. It purges ‘zombie cells’. As we age, our skin accumulates senescent cells. These are cells that are not working properly anymore, but refuse to die. They secrete harmful chemicals that cause inflammation and destroy healthy collagen. Studies show the mechanical trauma of microneedling acts to clear away these damaged cells, reducing inflammation and allowing nearby cells to function properly.

2. It stimulates new blood vessels (angiogenesis).

Did you know botulinum toxin can treat depression?!

This has been such an exciting thing to research and makes complete sense..

Multiple randomised controlled trials have found that botulinum toxin injected into the frown muscles significantly reduces symptoms of depression and anxiety.

A pooled analysis of 134 patients published in the Journal of Psychiatric Research found a 54% response rate for depression, compared to just 10% with placebo.
30% achieved full remission. From a single treatment.

A 2024 systematic review of 21 clinical trials confirmed botulinum toxin is safe, well-tolerated, and effective for major depressive disorder and social anxiety.

Here’s the mechanism:
It’s called the facial feedback hypothesis.
Your facial muscles don’t just express emotions - they send signals back to your brain that reinforce them.
When the frown muscles are relaxed - the negative feedback loop weakens.
Your brain literally receives less depressive signals.

Another study in 2024 found that people with NO history of depression reported increased life satisfaction and happiness after botulinum toxin.
