The clocks have changed, the evenings are darker and suddenly that after-work walk doesn’t feel quite as tempting! But as we move towards winter, finding ways to keep moving can make a real difference to how we feel.

Movement doesn’t have to mean a gym session or an hour-long workout. A lunchtime walk, a few stretches while the kettle boils, an exercise class or even putting on some music and moving around at home all count.

The key is finding something you genuinely enjoy and can realistically fit into your routine. As the seasons change, your habits might need to change with them, but your body still deserves regular opportunities to move.

What’s your favourite way to stay active when the darker evenings arrive? 👇🏻💙

Blankets out, favourite series on, cup of tea in hand… cosy season has officially arrived. 🍂

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with curling up on the sofa, but spending hours tucked into the same position might leave your neck, shoulders or back feeling a little less cosy afterwards!

The answer isn’t finding one ‘perfect’ way to sit. Instead, try changing positions regularly, getting up between episodes and taking a few minutes to stretch or walk around. Even small amounts of movement can help break up long periods of sitting.

So enjoy those cosy autumn evenings, just remember to give your body a change of scenery every now and then too.

Take a moment to check in with your body. Are your shoulders creeping towards your ears? Is your jaw clenched? Does your neck feel tight?😣

Stress doesn’t only affect how we feel emotionally, it can influence the way we hold and move our bodies too. When we’re busy or under pressure, we may unconsciously tense our muscles or change our breathing, over time this can contribute to feelings of tightness and discomfort.

Try checking in with yourself throughout the day. Drop your shoulders, unclench your jaw, take a few slow breaths and give yourself an opportunity to move. You might find yourself surprised at how much you’re tensing up throughout the day.

If you are, step back, pause, breathe and reset 💙

When you hear the word osteopath, your first thought might be back pain, but osteopathy can support so much more than your back.

Osteopaths look at the body as a whole, considering how your muscles, joints and other structures work together. Depending on your individual circumstances, people may seek osteopathic care for concerns including neck and shoulder discomfort, joint and muscle pain, certain types of headache, sports-related strains and general changes in mobility.

At Aries, it always starts with understanding YOU. We’ll listen to what’s been bothering you, consider your lifestyle and goals and assess whether osteopathic treatment is appropriate for your needs.

Our bodies tend to thrive on consistency. From sleep and movement to meals, hydration and recovery, having some structure to our days can help support both our physical and overall wellbeing.

The same applies when you’re working towards a treatment goal. Regular appointments, following the advice you’ve been given and making time for movement or exercises between sessions all contribute towards consistent, longer-term progress.

And remember, a good routine doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s the small things you do regularly that often have the greatest impact. Find habits that work realistically with your lifestyle and give your body the consistency it deserves.

If you’re ready to get consistent with a treatment plan, or find out how that could look, tap the Contact button on our profile to get in touch 📲💙

You’ll often hear us talk about our bespoke treatments at Aries, but what does that actually mean?

Simply put, we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Your body, lifestyle, symptoms and goals are unique to you, so we take the time to understand the bigger picture before tailoring your treatment accordingly.

Your treatment may evolve as your body responds and your needs change too. It’s a collaborative approach focused not only on where you’re experiencing discomfort but on supporting your movement, function and long-term wellbeing.

Because no two bodies are the same and at Aries, we don’t believe their treatment should be either 💙

Summer can be wonderfully busy. Holidays, days out, social plans and a break from our usual schedules often mean our everyday routines take a bit of a back seat.

As September is in full swing and life begins to settle back into a routine, it’s a great opportunity to check in with yourself too.

How is your body feeling? Are there any aches or niggles you’ve been ignoring? Have movement, rest or your treatment plan slipped down the priority list?

Think of September as your chance to reset. Getting back into a routine doesn’t have to mean changing everything at once, start with a few small habits that help you feel your best and make looking after yourself part of your schedule again 💙

Calling all office bods, this is your friendly posture check! Whether you’re working from home or in the office, spending hours in the same position can leave your neck, shoulders and lower back feeling tight and uncomfortable 😣

The good news is that posture isn’t about sitting perfectly all day. It’s about moving regularly. Try to stand up every hour (yes, really!), stretch your shoulders and neck, adjust your screen to eye level, and avoid staying in one position for too long.

Small movement breaks throughout the day can make a big difference. Your body is designed to move, so give it the opportunity to do just that.

Plus regular movement can improve your focus to get your tasks ticked off faster! 📋✔️😁

What an incredible summer we’ve been having here in Dorset, we hope you’ve been enjoying it so far 🤗

Now let’s talk about staying hydrated. It’s easy to underestimate just how important staying hydrated is for your body. Water plays a vital role in keeping your muscles, joints and tissues working as they should and even mild dehydration can contribute to fatigue, muscle cramps and feelings of stiffness.

If you’re spending time outdoors, exercising, or simply enjoying the sunshine, make a conscious effort to drink water regularly throughout the day rather than waiting until you feel thirsty🚰🩵

An extra little challenge is to pay attention to how much better you feel when you do!

Nothing says summer quite like a day at the beach - especially here in beautiful Dorset. Whether you’re spending the day relaxing, exploring the coastline, or entertaining little ones, it’s worth taking a few simple steps to look after your body while you’re there.

💦Warm weather can increase your risk of dehydration, which can contribute to fatigue and headaches. Make sure you’re drinking water regularly throughout the day, especially if you’re walking, swimming, or spending extended periods in the sun.

🧴Don’t forget to reapply suncream and seek shade where possible to give your body regular breaks from direct sunlight.

⛱️It’s also worth thinking about how you carry your belongings. Heavy cool bags, beach chairs, and bags carried on one shoulder can place extra strain on your neck, shoulders, and back. Where possible, distribute weight evenly, use backpacks, avoid carrying more than you need and share the load!

A few small adjustments can help you stay comfortable, protected, and ready to make the most of those summer beach days.
