Persistent knee pain? Sometimes the cause is somewhere else!!
Many people searching for help with knee pain assume the problem is inside the knee itself.
But that's not always the case.
A patient recently attended Sports Physio Slaithwaite with ongoing knee pain that was affecting walking, exercise and everyday activities.
After a detailed assessment, we discovered her knee wasn't actually the source of the problem.
A few weeks earlier she had suffered with hip pain which had gradually settled. Although the pain had gone, the body had continued compensating by shifting weight away from that side.
Over time this altered movement pattern placed extra load through the opposite knee, causing pain and reduced function.
This is a great example of why accurate assessment matters.
At Sports Physio Slaithwaite we regularly help people with:
β
Knee pain
β
Hip pain
β
Back pain
β
Running injuries
β
Sports injuries
β
Arthritis
β
Tendon problems
β
Muscle and joint pain
Rather than simply treating symptoms, we look for the underlying cause.
For this patient, treatment focused on restoring hip mobility, improving strength and correcting movement patterns.
After three weeks:
β
Hip mobility significantly improved
β
Walking became more symmetrical
β
Strength increased
β
Stability improved
β
Knee pain resolved completely
Interestingly, the knee was never treated directly.
By fixing the root cause, the symptoms disappeared.
If you're looking for a physiotherapist in Slaithwaite, Marsden, Linthwaite, Golcar, Milnsbridge, Huddersfield or the Colne Valley for knee pain, hip pain or sports injuries, we'd be happy to help.
