🌳The Sunday Pause - September 🌳

This morning I had the absolute pleasure of guiding a group of lovely Mums at The Sunday Pause!

I was feeling a bit nervous - first day back nerves I think!

I needn't have worried (but they say it shows that you care, which is completely true!)

It was a super morning.

We slowed right down with meditation, journaling, talking, walking, forest bathing activities, tea and cake! Oh...and although we ran out of time, we created a nature mandala too.

It really is a wonderful time when we give ourselves permission to escape the busy lives we find ourselves in. Permission to stop. Permission to rest. Permission to recharge and reset.

Thank you to all the ladies who came to the [quite literally] glorious Buzzards Valley today. Most of whom, were new to Thistle&May!

Our next Sunday Pause is on Sunday 4th October and I have an extra special treat for us! Booking opens soon!

📢Listening to your gut- how good are you at it?

For a long time now, I've been trying to use my gut instinct to make decisions. Asking myself, 'how do I feel about this?' And if it feels uneasy or not quite right, then I try to go with it. Sometimes it's easier to instinctively know what is right though, right? For me, I find it challenging to speak up if something doesn't feel quite right.

However...

On Monday, at about midday I started to feel really strange. I felt fuzzy and I couldn't put my finger on it but I knew something wasn't quite right in my body.

I was looking forward to meeting some of my lovely mums in the park for a walk and talk in the evening, buy I had to cancel 😔

Monday night I went to bed at 8pm, got up at 8am (had a dreadful night of fitful sleep - i mean 'who' dreams that they are a) Danerys Stormborn (IYKYK), and b) shot in the tummy with a location tracker. I mean...come on.

Queue full on feeling poorly. I think I have tonsillitis (which I get quite frequently when I am run down - but I feel quite rested at the moment so I'm confused). Anyway, I'm off to the Dr today and hopefully I can get some antibiotics so I can feel much better. I have a HUGE weekend coming up and I have to be better.

Why am I sharing this?

Well, I was thinking what I would have done if I hadn't listened to my gut? What if I just ignored it (like I very often do) and pushed through? Why is it so hard to put my own health first? Because by doing that I have to let someone else down; my mums on Monday night (who all totally understood btw), my kids, my husband.

I don't have the answer, I just wanted to share. I think I'm going to try even harder, or perhaps more mindfully, to listen to my gut even when it's not what I want to feel!

Are you good at listening to your intuition?

Isn't it funny that we Google the question and take those answers rather than feeling how it feels in our own body and trusting that?

(This picture was taken 2 weeks ago on holiday BTW. )

🪴A Mindful Afternoon for Mums 🪴

🤔What does mindfulness actually mean?

It doesn't mean emptying your mind or sitting perfectly still.

It simply means slowing down, being present and noticing the moment you're in — rather than constantly thinking about what has happened or what needs to happen next.

🤎And that's exactly what our Mindful Afternoon for Mums is all about.🤎

For three precious hours, you can step away from the to-do list, the responsibilities and everyone else's needs, and simply be.

🌿 1 hour of mindful wellbeing with:
- Guided meditation
- Breathwork
- Gentle journaling
- Time to pause, relax and reconnect with yourself

🥣We then have a break where Inji will provide everyone with a snack and a drink (these will be pre-ordered)

🩷Then we'll move into 90 minutes of mindful crafting

Crafting is a wonderful activity to promote mindfulness;Being absorbed in something creative can give your busy mind a chance to slow down and focus on the moment.

No rushing.
No achieving.
No looking after everyone else.

Just time to breathe, create, connect and be present. 🌿

If you're a mum who feels like you're always thinking about the next thing, perhaps this is your invitation to pause.

📅 20th September
🕐 1.30–4.30pm
📍 Inji Restaurant, Wylde Green
🤍 In collaboration with The Cosy Craft Club

I'd love to fill this beautiful afternoon with 10 lovely mums.

If your nervous system could use a little exhale, come and join us.

Bookings are now open - https://bookwhen.com/thistleandmaywellness

4 signs you need more than an early night...

🩷I do love a bubble bath, a hot cup of tea, a face mask. A love a bit of self care.

🩷What I also love is caring for me by giving myself deep, nervous system rest too. By switching off and focusing in myself just for a short time.

When I started going to circles/sound healing sessions/retreat days it would take a long time for me to switch off. My mind had been switched on for over a decade so it has taken a fair bit of practice. But here's the thing I really had to get over....in my mind it felt selfish and I felt guilty for taking the time for myself.

However, the more I did it, the better I felt, the calmer I felt and the more refreshed I felt. Which helped me be a calmer and patient mummy.

So, now I know it not only supports me, it supports my family too!

I would love for you to feel that deep rest and calm too!

🪴An afternoon of mindfulness, made for mums. 🪴

Sometimes our minds are busy all day long...

The lists.

The noise.

The decisions.

The constant thinking about everyone else.

(I know this is what my days look like!)

So imagine giving yourself an afternoon where you don't have to rush or achieve anything.

🪴 An hour of quiet and calm with meditation, breathwork and journaling- led by Amy from Thistle&May Wellness

☕ A delicious snack and a drink- provided by Inji

🎨 Followed by 90 minutes of mindful crafting — slowing down, getting creative and simply enjoying the moment.. - led by Daisy from The Cosy Craft Club.

🩷It's all about being present🩷

And when we give ourselves permission to slow down and step away from the constant doing, it can be a lovely way to support our nervous system and help us feel calmer, more grounded and restored.

No pressure to be productive.

No need to be good at crafting.

Just an afternoon to breathe, create and enjoy being you.

Because sometimes the kindest thing we can do for ourselves is simply slow down. 🌿
