Which writer are you? ✍️📚

We all have a story somewhere inside us. But where are you on your writing journey?

🌟 The Dreamer
You have the idea. You’ve probably had it for months — maybe even years. You can see the characters, the setting and perhaps even the opening scene in your head. You just haven’t quite got it onto the page yet.

📝 The Starter
You’ve begun! You have a few pages, maybe a chapter or two, and you’re excited about your story. But then… life happens, the initial enthusiasm fades, and the blank page starts looking rather intimidating.

😩 The Stuck-in-the-Middle Writer
You know your story. You know your characters. You know roughly where you want to end up. So why on earth can’t you get from Chapter 8 to Chapter 9?! The middle of a novel can be a tricky place.

🎉 The Almost-Finished Writer
You’re tantalisingly close. You can practically see THE END — but somehow those final chapters keep getting put off. Maybe you’re worried about getting them right. Maybe finishing means having to decide what happens next.

🤔 The “What Do I Do With It Now?” Writer
You’ve actually done it. You have a completed manuscript! 🎉

But now what?

Do you need an agent? A publisher? An editor? Should you self-publish? What exactly is a synopsis? And why does everyone keep talking about a query letter?!

The good news? You don’t have to figure it all out alone.

On Saturday 19 September, we will be running a small, friendly workshop for aspiring authors, covering the journey from first page to finished manuscript — and what happens afterwards.

Author, screenwriter and publishing consultant Trelawney Bresic will share practical writing advice, including how to finish your novel and navigate the different publishing options while leaving time for questions, ideas and conversation.

And with only 10 places, there’ll be plenty of opportunity to meet other writers, share experiences and hopefully begin building a supportive little writing community.

Our next Book Club meeting will take place on Sunday 20 September at 3pm. Our book for the month is Whispers from Warwick by Steve Garrison, a collection of real life ghost stories from Warwick. SIGNED COPIES are available in the shop.

The whole series of 3 volumes filled with fascinating stories is available at The Happy Witch, and it doesn’t matter which book in the series you read for the club. We are also very much looking forward for you to share your own experiences with the spirit realm at the club! ❤
