‘Hard’ looks different for everyone & can change daily. To improve, a clear plan & consistency is key.
Day 8 post op. I can barely label this rehab as it’s such a small amount of movement but I’m repeating the sequence 3 x per day & walking 2.5km today now & increasing daily 🤗
• 10 x ankle pumps, helps circulation after the anaesthetic & reduces risk of clotting. Strengthens gastrocnemius (calf) & tibialis (shin).
• 10 x heel slides from extended, lightly loads the TA (maintaining neutral), quads & hip flexors
•10 x pelvic tilts, strengthens RA, gently mobilises lumbar spine
• 10 x marches, strengthens TA & RA (isometrically), quads & hip flexors
•Hundred in table top, adds additional RA strength work but neutral must be maintained, light thoracic flexion.
•10 x side lying leg lifts with ankle pumps, mobilises hip, isometrically loads TA (to maintain neutral) Strengthens glute med & abductor
•10 x pulsing, additional endurance for glute med & abductor.
