What an incredible way to wrap up another Summer First Responder Camp for Teens!
Our campers spent a week learning what it takes to be a first responder or healthcare provider through hands-on, interactive experiences. Throughout the camp, they learned and practiced CPR and 1st aid, practiced science experiments, learned about splinting, carrying techniques and Narcan administration. They also learned about the dangers of smoking and va**ng and participated in hands-on activities including a pig heart/lung dissection and a suturing lab. Camp also included hospital tours of various departments as well as a visit from the MedEvac air and ground crews.
They had the opportunity to learn about different EMS, first responder and healthcare professions while discovering the many paths they can take in a future career. We hope we inspired some future EMS providers, nurses, PA's, physicians and other 1st responders.
And of course, everyone enjoyed a visit from our therapy dogs and hospital security canines! These four-legged visitors were definitely a favorite!
To wrap things up, the campers prepared presentations on topics they learned about during the week and proudly shared what they learned with their families.
A special THANK YOU to the more than 50 presenters who shared their time, knowledge and expertise with our campers. Without all of you, this year's camp would not have been the success it was!
