True or False: If your facility is running short on scrubs, you need to buy more.

False.

A scrub shortage doesn’t always mean there aren’t enough scrubs. The real issue may be loss, uneven distribution or limited visibility into where inventory is going. A smarter scrub management program can help facilities see their inventory, reduce loss, and keep the right sizes available where they’re needed.

A 2025 lifecycle assessment found that at a 99% return rate, a reusable microfiber product could achieve up to 100 uses. At a 95% return rate, that maximum dropped to just 20. When microfiber ends up in the wrong department, sits unused, or disappears from circulation, facilities may replace products before the end of their useful life. Better inventory management can help keep microfiber moving and working longer.

A new certification and an important milestone for our Asbury Park team! Our Asbury Park facility has officially earned TRSA Hygienically Clean Healthcare certification, joining its existing HLAC accreditation to become dual certified. Achieving this distinction reflects the hard work of our Asbury Park team and their continued commitment to quality, safety and hygienically clean healthcare textiles.

The Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council (HLAC) has begun reviewing its 2023 Standards, examining them line by line to ensure they continue to reflect current science, industry practices and the realities of healthcare laundry operations.

The next edition is expected in 2027, with input from infection preventionists, laundry operators, microbiology and other industry experts helping shape the process. As an HLAC-accredited healthcare laundry, HCSC understands the value of standards that are both evidence-based and practical.

Having enough scrubs on paper does not always mean having the right sizes available where and when staff need them. RFID-supported scrub management can provide better visibility into inventory movement, helping facilities identify loss, improve accountability and make more informed inventory decisions.

A hospital can have plenty of microfiber and still run short. Mops and cloths move constantly throughout a facility. When that movement is hard to track, products can pile up in one area while another runs low. Our latest blog looks at how better microfiber inventory visibility can help reduce shortages, excess stock, and unnecessary spending.

TRUE OR FALSE: Scrub shortages always mean you need more scrubs.

FALSE. The bigger issue is knowing where your scrubs are, how they're being used and whether they're being returned. RFID-enabled scrub management gives healthcare facilities greater visibility into inventory and usage while automated dispensing helps keep the right sizes accessible to staff. Better tracking can mean fewer mystery disappearances, fewer shortages and less unnecessary inventory.
