Apparently, knowing better isn’t always enough. 🙋‍♀️

I teach this stuff for a living, and I still catch myself doing the exact same things I help women work through every day. All-or-nothing thinking. Skipping the food journal. Knowing what would be helpful…and not actually doing it.

That’s what I’m writing about today in After the Food Noise.

Because knowing what to do and knowing how to live it when real life happens are two very different things. And it’s exactly why I believe so deeply in Headwork™.

I’m also sharing something I’ve been working on for a while: on September 16, I’m hosting a FREE live workshop:

What Happens After the Food Noise Gets Quiet?
The emotional work of lasting change no one prepared you for.

For the first time, I’ll be sharing my newly redesigned four-part Headwork™ framework.

And no—you do NOT need to be taking a GLP-1 to join us. This conversation is for women navigating lasting weight loss through many different paths.

Read the essay using the link below, and you can save your free workshop seat there too.

This week I had the gift of spending time with my treasured friend Jean at her beautiful lake house in Wisconsin.

If you know me, you know how much I love being near the water. Give me a lake, quiet journaling time, long conversations, plenty of laughter, and a dear friend who lets me be completely myself—and I’m one happy girl.

Jean is one of the women from my Circle. When I first met these women last fall, I was convinced they were out of my league and wondered if I truly belonged.

Now I know I absolutely do.

So grateful for the women who walk beside me, remind me who I am, and make life so much richer. My life is full 💙

Have you ever walked into a room and quietly wondered, Do I really belong here?

I have.

But being surrounded by women who allowed me to be fully myself helped me see something I couldn’t see on my own:

I belonged before I ever walked into the room.

Today’s essay is about shame, courage, and what happens when we stop trying to figure everything out alone.

After more than two decades of leading groups—and experiencing the healing power of community in my own life—I believe this more than ever:
Community Is Treatment™.

My new essay, “I Didn’t Think I Belonged in the Room,” is live now.

A woman comes into one of my groups and tells us she doesn’t have a win to share that week.

Just Lora 🌻

I’m starting something new around here on Fridays.

You know me as a therapist. You hear a lot about Headwork™, weight loss, and what happens after the food noise gets quiet.

But on Fridays, I thought I’d share a little more of the person behind all of that.

Today that looks like a spontaneous lunch with my hubby at Martha’s Vineyard — a new-to-us little spot in our own city that somehow we’ve never tried.

Welcome to Headwork in 90 seconds today! Take a listen and hear why I look a little bit different today and most importantly a hot off the press Headwork ™️strategy I am celebrating in my own life today 🧠

A little Monday morning walk + some thoughts on trust. ❤️

When our bodies don’t respond the way we want them to, we often don’t question the rules—we question ourselves.

I wrote more about this today. I’ll put the link in the comments. ❤️

Friday is becoming a little more personal around here. 💙

I spend a lot of time in this space talking about Headwork™, weight loss, food noise, and the work I’ve been privileged to do with women for more than 20 years.

But on Fridays, I want to share a little more of Lora beyond the therapist.

And this Friday, it’s all about being a mom.

Tomorrow we move Emily back to Xavier University to begin her junior year, and this mama is having all the feels. 🥹💙

I’m so grateful for the summer we had together—the time, the laughter, the conversations, and all the little memories we made along the way.

Emily and I have always been big on taking selfies together, so here are a few snapshots of Summer 2026.

I’m not quite ready for her summer to end, but I’m so excited for everything waiting for her in this next year.

Grateful for the memories. Proud of the young woman she’s becoming. And already missing her a little. 💙

Here’s to junior year, Em. Go make it a good one.
