The correct treatment given at the wrong time can keep someone stuck.
Complex chronic illness is not only about identifying every diagnosis. It also requires determining what to address first.
A long list of diagnoses does not establish treatment order. Start with four questions:
• What is the biggest driver?
• What is blocking progress?
• What does the patient tolerate?
• What needs stability first?
Ongoing mold exposure keeps the immune system activated. Aggressively treating infections while that exposure continues adds more stress to an already reactive system.
Treatment tolerance also matters. POTS, mast cell reactions, and severe gut dysfunction reduce the body’s ability to handle aggressive protocols. These systems often require support before deeper treatment begins.
Nutrient depletion and mitochondrial dysfunction create another barrier. The body needs adequate resources for:
• Energy
• Immune function
• Detoxification
• Tissue repair
Testing remains only one part of the picture. Results depend on what the test measures, the species and strains included, timing, immune function, and previous treatment.
Progress should be visible along the way. Our practice looks for meaningful improvement within roughly 3 to 6 months of a new protocol. Little or no progress signals that the primary driver or treatment order requires reassessment.
More treatment is not always the answer. Sometimes healing begins with better questions, stronger foundations, and the correct order of care.
