Those transfers can be AWKWARD.

Make it a little less so with your Stopper!

πŸ‘‰ Make sure to lock in the carriage with a few springs πŸ”΄πŸ”΄πŸ”΄ so it doesn't move during the transfer.

Building connection, one repetition at a time.

Proud of my athletes pushing forward this spring despite busy schedules and life changes: moving houses, renovations, trips, caregiver changes.... the work continues.

This book was developed from years of trial, error, problem-solving, and asking better questions about SCI recovery.

Not just: β€œWhat exercises should we do?" …but:
〰️How do we create better movement quality?
〰️How do we reduce compensation?
〰️How do we help someone reconnect to their body after paralysis?

πŸ’₯From the Ground Up organizes the process of recovery after SCI.

Inside:
πŸ‘‰ our signature Framework for SCI Recovery
πŸ‘‰ Recovery mindset and approach to healing
πŸ‘‰ assessment strategies & programming considerations
πŸ‘‰ over 100 pages of exercise progressions with setup details, modifications, compensations & coaching cues

Whether you’re navigating SCI yourself or working with someone who is β€” this is the resource we wish existed when we started.

πŸ“– Available in print + e-Book format (Apple & Google Play).

If any of that resonates with you, you're in the right place.

1️⃣ Standing and walking are lower on the priority list than you might think.
πŸ‘‰ Have conversations with your clients.
πŸ‘‰ Read between the lines to find what they really care about.

2️⃣ You don't need fancy/expensive equipment to offer a great neuro rehab program.
πŸ‘‰ Foundational exercises on the floor can be challenging enough! + it's what most people need anyways.
πŸ‘‰ Make your program more affordable and accessible to this already $$ strapped community with intelligently crafted floor-based programs. -overhead!
πŸ‘‰ Invest in your PEOPLE, their/your education - the service and relationships your clients have with the trainers are why they STAY.

3️⃣ There's a lot you can learn from people and movement modalities OUTSIDE of traditional rehab sciences.
πŸ‘‰ Dance studies have taught me SO much about movement generation and efficiency.
πŸ‘‰ Pilates gave me a deeper understanding of movement principles and effective teaching strategies.
πŸ‘‰ Osteopathic ideologies helped me better listen to what the body was telling me it needed - and then the confidence to trust my intuition.

❇️❇️❇️❇️
I've been working in movement/neuro/trauma healing for almost 15 years now - thousands of hours of hands-on work with hundreds of bodies, countless conversations about frustrations, and enough light-bulb moments in my client's sessions to drive me to share this work beyond my walls.

Thanks for being here and supporting this mission.🧑

Pilates Push through bar exercises for neuro rehab: start here!

The push-through-bar (PTB) is a great tool for teaching:
πŸ‘‰ shoulder mechanics
πŸ‘‰ triceps strengthening
πŸ‘‰ postural stability
πŸ‘‰ dynamic spine control

πŸ”‘ The bar creates a "closed-chain" experience for upper body loading, without the full load. A great way to introduce foundations.
πŸ’₯ The kick of the spring-loaded bar also offers a great kinesthetic cue for stability! (IYKYK)

1️⃣ Seated "arch & curl" (and parts) β€” intermediate

2️⃣ Circle saw β€” intermediate/advanced coordination

3️⃣ PTB presses β€” start here for shoulder mechanics!

4️⃣ Hanging Cat/Cow β€” also love this one for beginners

5️⃣ Side Mermaid β€” harder than it looks!

What makes these exercises effective is the customization to each individual through:
πŸ™Œ Spring settings
πŸ™Œ Cueing - verbal & tactile
πŸ™Œ Placement of the exercise within the macro program

These clips share some of the exercises we discuss in depth in the new online workshop series: Pilates Equipment for Neuro Rehab
πŸ‘‰ a self-paced workshop getting nerdy about equipment dynamics and finding the *perfect* set-up and spring selection for that fluid feeling.
