STEP, Inc

STEP, Inc For over 47 years, STEP has helped people pursue their goals for the future. We know that growth for each of us happens in community with others.

Our expertise is in supporting people who have physical, intellectual/developmental, and substance use diagnoses, and other challenges. Who We Are:

We help people envision and make progress toward the life they choose, by expanding their experience of existing options and by creating new opportunities. We support people to enhance the connections, skills, and roles they determine, and address the

inevitable challenges and barriers to reaching their goals. Our services are tailored to address the priorities and choices of each client, honoring their preferences, experience, values and culture. We strive to contribute to a welcoming community that invites each individual to have a valued place of belonging. Our Commitment:

Our promise to support people to pursue the life they desire extends beyond our clients, to our team members, volunteers, business associates, and the community at large. We promote a growth mindset, which holds that everyone can develop and achieve their goals across their lifespan. We expect the same of STEP as an organization; we continually challenge ourselves to get better at what we do each day, to look further to the future, and to continue to create and pioneer new supports that help people reach their life goals.

— A TWO-HOUR INTRODUCTORY SESSION FOR THE HELPING PROFESSIONS —
IFS 101
An Introduction to Internal Family Systems
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an evidence-based therapeutic model developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz that recognizes the natural multiplicity of the mind — the idea that each of us has many parts that carry different emotions, beliefs, and roles, as well as a core Self. Non-pathologizing and client-led, IFS has been found effective for improving overall well-being and reducing anxiety, depression, and the effects of trauma. This introduction will offer an overview and experiential first look at the model.

Join us for
● The core model — managers, firefighters, exiles, and the Self, and why every part carries a positive intent. There are no “bad” parts.
● The concept of Self-energy — the calm, curious, compassionate center IFS describes through the 8 C’s.
● A taste of the practice — a guided meditation and a simple parts-mapping exercise to explore your own inner system.
● Further exploration and discussion — how IFS can provide support personally and professionally.

Update! June's Public Safety & Community Resource event has been rescheduled to Thurs, July 16 at 3pm.

This session focuses on Supporting Youth Stability: Prevention, Crisis Response, and Community Pathways, bringing together youth-serving organizations, behavioral health providers, education partners, and crisis response systems to explore how the community supports young people experiencing instability, behavioral health challenges, housing insecurity, family conflict, and other barriers impacting long-term stability and well-being.

This monthly series is presented by Downtown Billings and The Billings Public Library. The speakers/presenters and topics change each month, each selected to help inform our community of resources available within our city, county, and region as well as introduce key people and agencies involved.

Sometimes we all need reminders of the good we have accomplished so we don't get too focused on all the challenges we are facing. We decided to create a wall to celebrate all the little ways we have made a difference! We are looking forward to seeing how this wall will grow!
