Are you trying to “detox” while still being exposed to the very things you’re trying to get rid of?
We live in a very different environment than we did even a few generations ago. Plastics, fragrances, food packaging, personal-care products and other everyday exposures can introduce chemicals that may interact with our endocrine system.
And that’s one reason I don’t believe health should start with another trendy cleanse.
Your body already has systems designed to process and eliminate waste — including your liver, digestive tract, kidneys and lymphatic system. The goal should be to SUPPORT those systems, not overwhelm them.
A few simple places to start:
• Use glass or stainless steel instead of heating food in plastic.
• Reduce unnecessary fragrance in household and personal-care products.
• Eat plenty of fiber-rich whole foods and colorful vegetables.
• Support regular bowel movements.
• Stay appropriately hydrated.
• Make sure you’re eating enough protein and nutrients to support normal liver function.
• Look at your everyday exposures BEFORE reaching for another “detox.”
And one of my biggest reminders:
**You can’t out-supplement your health.**
I would rather help someone understand what their body needs than hand them another cabinet full of supplements.
When hormones, digestion, energy, skin, sleep and weight all seem to be talking at once, I don’t automatically see six separate problems.
**The body is one system.**
That’s why at Elev8 Your Health, we look at the bigger picture and use functional testing when appropriate to help us understand what may need support.
Small changes in what comes INTO the body can sometimes be just as important as what we’re trying to get OUT.
What is one plastic or chemical exposure you’ve already changed in your home — or one you know you still need to work on?
