When Patricia learned several family members carried the BRCA2 mutation, she made the decision to undergo genetic testing herself.

After finding out she was also BRCA2 positive, she took an active approach to her health, including scheduling an updated mammogram before preventive surgery. What she did not expect was for that screening to reveal breast cancer she never would have known was there.

Without symptoms and feeling otherwise healthy, Patricia’s diagnosis became a reminder of the importance of knowing your risk and staying on top of your breast health. Today, she is sharing her story to encourage others not to wait for symptoms to prioritize screening.

A major advancement in pancreatic cancer treatment: a new phase 1/2 clinical trial shows that daraxonrasib, an experimental oral targeted therapy, significantly improved survival for patients with previously treated metastatic pancreatic cancer.

Special congratulations to Dr. Kyaw Aung, medical oncologist at Baptist Health Herbert Wertheim Cancer Institute, who served as a co-author on the landmark publication. The therapy targets RAS mutations, found in more than 90% of pancreatic cancers, a long-elusive target that may mark a new era in how this disease is treated.
