We’re proud to share that Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton and Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica have earned the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award, recognizing their commitment to delivering high-quality, evidence-based stroke care.

This national recognition reflects the dedication of our care teams to ensuring stroke patients receive timely treatment aligned with the latest research and national guidelines — helping save more lives and reduce disability.

Both hospitals also received the American Heart Association’s Target: Type 2 Diabetes™ Honor Roll award. Target: Type 2 Diabetes aims to ensure patients with Type 2 diabetes, who may be at higher risk for complications, receive the most up-to-date, evidence-based care when hospitalized due to stroke.

Higgins General Hospital in Bremen has received the 2026 Georgia HEART Leadership Award! 🏆

The award recognizes the hospital's outstanding leadership, advocacy and impact through the Georgia HEART Hospital Program, which allows Georgia taxpayers to redirect a portion of their state income tax liability to qualifying rural hospitals.

Since 2017, more than $19.2 million in Georgia HEART contributions have helped Higgins General Hospital strengthen services, invest in new technology and expand access to high-quality care close to home.

Thank you to the individuals, families, businesses and community partners whose support continues to make an impact on healthcare in Haralson County and beyond.

Earlier this week, Tanner Health welcomed U.S. Rep. Brian Jack to Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton.

During the visit, Jack met with members of Tanner’s leadership team to discuss key priorities, upcoming legislation, the importance of rural healthcare and opportunities to continue to expand access for the people of Georgia's 3rd Congressional District, which includes Carroll County. After the meeting, the congressman toured the hospital’s cardiac catheterization laboratory and the Sally and John Francis Tanner Neonatal ICU (NICU).

“Tanner was honored to welcome Congressman Brian Jack for a tour and briefing of west Georgia’s premier health system,” said Loy Howard, president and CEO of Tanner Health. “His engagement underscores the importance of strong partnerships in advancing the health of the communities we mutually serve, and we appreciate his commitment to understanding the challenges and opportunities facing local healthcare.”
