You might think it’s just a small foot problem, but even minor issues can lead to significant discomfort or complications if left untreated. Our feet carry us through life, so it's essential to pay attention to any signs of trouble. Ignoring a small ache or pain might seem harmless, but it could be an early indication of a more serious condition like plantar fasciitis or a stress fracture.

Taking care of your feet involves more than just wearing comfortable shoes; it also means being mindful of changes in your foot health. If you notice persistent pain, swelling, or any unusual symptoms, it’s wise to consult a healthcare professional. They can offer guidance on proper treatment and help prevent future problems. Remember, your well-being walks on your feet!

Your feet don’t always go from ‘fine’ to ‘severe pain.’ Sometimes they give you little warnings first. Here are 5 signs it may be time to see a Podiatrist:

(1)Pain that keeps coming back
-Maybe your foot only hurts after a long day at first, but eventually it starts happening more often or after less activity.

(2)Morning heel or arch pain
-That first-step pain when getting out of bed can be an early sign of plantar fasciitis. If it persists or worsens, it’s worth having it evaluated.

(3)Increasing numbness or tingling
-Occasional “pins and needles” may seem harmless, but recurring numbness, burning, or tingling can indicate nerve irritation or another underlying issue.

(4)A bump or other deformity that’s slowly getting worse
-Bunions, hammertoes, and other deformities often develop gradually. Waiting until shoes become extremely uncomfortable can make treatment more difficult.

(5)You’re changing how you walk
-If you find yourself limping, avoiding certain activities, shifting your weight, or walking differently to avoid pain, that’s a strong sign the problem deserves attention.

Don’t forget about your feet at school! Whether you are a teacher, work in administration, a parent, or student yourself, it’s important to remember the feet! Wear the appropriate and comfortable footwear. Protect the toes, if there will be running outside. Wear socks to absorb sweat and to prevent excess rubbing and friction. Please follow up with a podiatrist if you notice pain that won’t subside. We are here to help! Give us a call at 410-405-7444.

Back-to-school season means heavier backpacks, longer walks, and more time on their feet. If your child is complaining of heel pain, foot fatigue, or leg discomfort after school, don't assume it's just "growing pains."

Healthy feet help kids stay active, comfortable, and ready to learn. A podiatrist can identify underlying issues early and help keep your child moving with confidence all school year long.

🍎 Here's to a happy, healthy, and successful school year! We are here if you need us. 410-405-7444
