Five years ago today, on May 7, 2020, I was blessed with an opportunity that changed my life forever. During one of the darkest times in the world, I was chosen as 1 of 6 nurses working on the front lines to be featured on Jimmy Fallon’s Mother’s Day episode of
What made that moment even more special was sharing it with my mother. I can still hear her screaming, crying, and telling me how proud she was of me. Hearing her say “I love you” and watching her celebrate that moment with me is a memory I will cherish for the rest of my life.
Little did I know, exactly two weeks later, God would call my beautiful mother home. And in one of the hardest moments of my life, the gifts and blessings I received from Jimmy Fallon’s show and Samsung helped me lay my mother to rest.
It has taken me all day to find the words to write this because every time I think about it, tears fill my eyes. Grief never truly leaves us, especially when the love was so real. But I thank God that before my mother left this earth, He allowed her to witness one of the proudest moments of my life.
Thank you, Jimmy Fallon and Samsung, for your kindness, generosity, and for honoring nurses during such a difficult time in history. Your gifts meant more than you will ever know — not only to me, but to my entire family.
To my mother… I miss you every single day. Thank you for loving me, believing in me, praying for me, and cheering me on through every chapter of my life. Everything I do is because of you ❤️🕊️
