Welcome to our “Maine Healthcare Association” award-winning program!
Based on the fast-paced reality TV cooking competition on the Food Network hosted by Ted Allen, our 2 teams of chefs turn surprise mystery basket ingredients into a three-course meal, present it to a panel of judges, and face elimination at the end when only one team earns the big win and the others “get chopped”.
Benefits:
+ Residents, rehab staff, and activity staff work together as a team to create a recipe and bring it to life before presenting it to the judges, promoting a sense of community and teamwork.
+Adding to the sense of community, the judging panel includes building staff members, family members, and other visitors.
+Residents are offered the opportunity to be on equal footing with staff members.
+Residents are hands-on and encouraged to use all cooking equipment, fostering a sense of normalcy and a focus on ability rather than disability.
+All resident levels are encouraged to participate.
+The sounds and smells of cooking can evoke memories and the ability to reminisce.
+Cooking is a highly sensory experience, and even residents in the later stages of dementia can benefit from the program.
+Residents are provided with tasting spoons to allow for hygienic practice while enabling residents to taste their own food.
IT IS SO MUCH FUN!!!
