When every test is “normal,” but you still don’t feel normal…

Many people living with dysautonomia, long COVID, chronic fatigue, concussion symptoms, or other neurological conditions describe the same experience:

• Brain fog
• Dizziness
• Light sensitivity
• Motion sensitivity
• Difficulty focusing
• Fatigue from simple tasks
• Feeling overwhelmed in busy environments

What many don’t realize is that these symptoms often involve more than one system.

Vision, balance, sensory processing, body awareness, and autonomic regulation are constantly communicating with one another. When those systems become disconnected, the brain has to work harder just to get through the day.

At Academy of Vision Development, we use Optimized Multisensory Systems Training (OMST) to help support the integration of these systems. Rather than focusing on one symptom at a time, OMST is designed to challenge and strengthen how the brain processes information from multiple systems working together.

Many patients tell us they experience improvements in:
✓ Visual comfort
✓ Balance and coordination
✓ Tolerance for movement
✓ Focus and attention
✓ Cognitive endurance
✓ Daily function

Whether symptoms began after a concussion, illness, long COVID, or have been present for years, there may still be opportunities for improvement because the brain remains capable of change.

We are currently the only clinic in Michigan offering the OMST Table.

If you or someone you know is struggling with persistent neurological symptoms, we’d be happy to discuss whether a comprehensive evaluation could help.

This shows the improvement of the reading speed compared to yesterday's video, after OMST and vision therapy, this patient is now reading at college level and her comprehension is 100%

How does Vision Therapy improve reading comprehension? By fixing how the two eyes move, track, aim and focus together in order to understand the words you've read.

We use the Readalyzer to assess how the eyes move as patients are reading a paragraph. It's an infrared sensor that tracks the pupils as the patient reads silently. Then they answer 10 questions about what they've just read.

Do you have a child that struggles with reading? This video shows a 9th grade patient with a concussion attempting to read a paragraph, her comprehension was 40%.

Watch this video, notice how her eyes are jumping all over the page. No amount of tutoring is going to cure this visual dysfunction. Convergence Insufficiency is extremely debilitating for people of all ages and Vision Therapy is the cure!

Many vision therapy activities require a helper. Patients need to be asked, is your head straight? Can you feel what your eye is doing? Do you notice the whole room?

Patients who progress the fastest are the ones who adhere to the prescribed homework activities AND HAVE SOMEONE AT HOME to help them do the homework. They need feedback, encouragement and monitoring. Especially kids!

Adults CAN do vision therapy at home alone BUT they do BETTER if they have a helper. And it's our job to train the helper each week to know what to look for and what to record on the homework page.

Patients graduate the fastest when they have good, positive attitudes towards getting better, when they adhere to the homework as prescribed and when they have a home helper to do the activities with them!

Syntonics is one of the unique tools we use at Academy of Vision Development to help calm and organize the visual and nervous systems. 👁️🧠

This patient is using an Alpha Omega filter during Syntonics therapy — a specialized form of light therapy designed to support how the brain and eyes work together.

Alpha Omega is often used to help:
✨ Improve visual attention
✨ Reduce visual stress and overwhelm
✨ Support balance between central and peripheral awareness
✨ Calm an overactive nervous system
✨ Improve visual comfort and processing

Many patients who struggle with reading fatigue, sensory overload, headaches, concussion symptoms, anxiety, or difficulty focusing may benefit from this type of treatment.

Syntonics isn’t just about eyesight — it’s about helping the brain process the world more efficiently and comfortably.

When the visual system becomes more organized, patients often notice improvements in:
✔️ Attention
✔️ Coordination
✔️ Reading stamina
✔️ Emotional regulation
✔️ Confidence
✔️ Overall daily function

Every patient’s program is customized based on their neurological and visual needs.

At the Academy of Vision Development, we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to visual performance. Because of neuroplasticity, the brain never stops growing and building new connections, whether you are 5 or 75.

Our specialized, concierge-level care takes a structured, multi-stage path, personalizing the journey to identify and treat the underlying visual reasons holding you back.
