The Pitt makes the ER feel like a place where everyone gets seen, fought for, saved.
Real data tells a different story. In an analysis of nearly 22,000 emergency department records, women were less likely to receive pain medication than men — even when they reported the exact same level of pain. Nurses were less likely to even record women’s pain scores. And women waited, on average, 30 minutes longer to be treated.
This is the gap we don’t see on screen. It’s also the gap we’re working to close. 💚
