Guiding Star Marshalltown’s 5th Annual Aligning the Stars Charity Gala will take place on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at Midnight Garden in Marshalltown, Iowa.

We are honored to welcome keynote speaker and State Representative, Brett Barker, who will share his personal testimony on foster care and adoption.

All moms are welcome! Come as you are, grab a mug, and connect with other women in a relaxed, encouraging environment. Childwatch may be available pending volunteer availability. You can always come without your kids!

🌿 Grace Restored - June 18th
For those seeking hope, healing, and restoration after a past abortion. This is a supportive space for your healing.

🌳 Community Park Playdate - June 18th at Grimes Farm
Open to everyone! Bring the kids and join us for an easy, fun afternoon outside with free hot dogs and snacks.

🤍 Bump to Baby - June 25th
If you’re expecting, this one is for you! We’ll walk through pregnancy, birth, and those early newborn days.

Wondering what the outcome of this year’s Mother’s Market and In Honor of a Mother was?

A success! 🎉

Together, we raised $6,854.30, welcomed 120 attendees, featured 17 vendors, honored 40 mothers, and were supported by 7 sponsors.

We think this year was our most special market yet. We were overjoyed to see a full house of people, and received many comments about the cheerful atmosphere. There were not only high-quality goods, but high-quality people! Everywhere you went there were smiles, laughs and good conversations.

This was never meant to be a typical shopping experience. The vision was to bring women together, sharing their talents and their presence, to support the future of women’s healthcare and support for women and children in Marshalltown.

That was fully accomplished this year.

We are grateful to everyone who showed up and made it possible. We can’t thank you enough, and we hope to see you again next year!

We are so excited for summer to be here! 🌞😎

Our first Park Playdate of the year is scheduled for June 18th from 11AM - 1PM. We will have hot dogs, snacks, and everyone is welcome to come! We’ll be at the picnic tables at Grimes Farm.

We are welcoming another doula to our partner team, Vivian! 💖

Vivian Kahler is a compassionate birth doula dedicated to supporting families through one of the most life-changing experiences. She is excited to partner with Guiding Star to serve families in the Marshalltown area.

After providing birth support for two of her sister's births she felt called to become a doula. These births affirmed her desire to provide compassionate and empowering care to families. She looks forward to meeting moms right where they’re at on their journey.

In her free time Vivian enjoys spending time with her family, shopping at the local thrift stores, reading, and going on dates with her boyfriend. Vivian recently co-founded her doula business, Viva Birth & Beyond, alongside her sister, Abbey.

We have some exciting events on the horizion for June!

☕ Mugs & Mamas will be held as usual on Monday the 15th. This casual hangout is open to all moms looking to connect with other mamas. You’re always welcome to come without your kiddos! RSVP is required.

🌳 Our first Park Playdate of the year is here! Join us on Thursday the 18th for a free light lunch, snacks, and a fun time of socialization for families. We’ll be meeting at the picnic tables at Grimes Farm. All are welcome!

💜 Grace Restored is happening Thursday the 18th. This heartfelt gathering is for those suffering after an abortion, a place to find hope, healing, and support without judgment.

🤰 Bump to Baby will meet on Thursday the 25th. If you’re pregnant, you won’t want to miss this! Led by two doulas with a heart for motherhood, this group is a chance to connect with other expecting mothers, learn helpful tips, and get your questions answered.

Did you know we have a FREE Mom & Baby Closet right here in Marshalltown?

Families can access essentials like diapers, wipes, baby clothes, and other necessities at no cost. We’re open Monday-Thursday, 10 AM-4 PM. Just bring proof of WIC, SNAP, or Medicaid (exceptions are available for those under 18).

Be sure to stop back each month to pick up more items as you need them!

We are welcoming a new face at Guiding Star Marshalltown!

Abbey Rhoades will be joining us as a doula partner. 🍼👶💖

She is a wife, mother, and birth doula from Maxwell, Iowa. Not only that, but she is also a stay-at-home mom to three beautiful children, and in her free time, enjoys iced coffee, thrifting, and spending quality time with her family.

After experiencing pregnancy, labor, and postpartum firsthand, Abbey felt a deep calling to support other women and families during one of the most meaningful seasons of their lives. As a doula, she is especially passionate about serving families through a faith-based, life-affirming approach, providing each woman with calm, hands-on, evidence-based support, encouragement, and an unwavering presence through every high and low.

Abbey recently co-founded her doula business, Viva Birth & Beyond, alongside her younger sister, Vivian. Through her partnership with Guiding Star Marshalltown, she is honored to walk with families while sharing God’s light throughout her work.
