💥 Fighter Friday 🥊
Say hello to Chip 👋🏼
Chip was first diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in August of 2025. His symptoms consisted of slurry speech, and combative dreams.
Chip had lost his smell and taste over 15 years ago, and the doctor said because of how active he was with exercise and competitive rowing that he had absolutely held off many other symptoms until now.
He also was experiencing tremors. He knew something was up, but wasn’t sure what was happening. His doctor suggested a second opinion and sent him to a neurologist. He felt it was a blessing that he was diagnosed so he could move forward with fighting this disease.
Chip found Rock Steady Boxing from a local organization called One Senior Place, and is so thankful for the recommendation.
Chip really enjoys the camaraderie of his fellow boxers and the coaches at Rock Steady Boxing 🥊
What is his favorite exercise?
Boxing 🥊 was something new to him and he really enjoys it! He said loves all of the exercises that are incorporated in his Rock Steady classes, balance, lifting weights, ropes and exercise bands, all of them make him feel healthy and stronger!
Outside of the gym rowing is his favorite exercise.
If you’ve been recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s, Chip says “ Check out Rock Steady Boxing! You will love it! ”
Recently he has interacted with four couples that their husbands had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s. They were not doing any exercise. They didn’t realize the benefits of Rock Steady Boxing and now they are all seeking out Rock Steady Boxing classes in their areas. He felt good to help and share this information with them.
Chip works hard and always has a smile on his face! 😊 His positive outlook is definitely felt within the gym and we are so happy to have him here with us!
