Dr. Patel is working to make research more inclusive. 🔬

“People with Parkinson’s have high rates of mood disorders, depression and anxiety, and it’s also been shown that LGBTQ+ patients with other neurological disorders have high rates of those symptoms, so I wanted to see if LGBTQ+ people with Parkinson’s may be at a higher risk for mood disorders.”

“Parkinson’s has changed my life, but it has also given me a clearer sense of purpose. I cannot control everything about this disease, but I can control how I respond to it. I can keep learning. I can keep moving. I can keep showing up."

Chris, an Air Force veteran living with Parkinson’s disease, knows that while a diagnosis can bring challenges, it can also provide purpose, connection and opportunities to help others. As a Parkinson’s Foundation Ambassador for the Florida Chapter, he is using his experience to inspire and support others.

Read Chris’s PD story below:

Parkinson’s has changed my life, but it has also given me a clearer sense of purpose. I cannot control everything about this disease, but I can control how I respond to it.
