This Phase Will Pass

Sometimes we go through phases in life that feel like they will never change.
A season of uncertainty.
A difficult relationship.
A loss.
A season of waiting.
A challenge that seems to linger far longer than we ever expected.

In those moments, it can be easy to believe that this is how things will always be.
But yoga reminds us that everything is temporary. Nothing stays exactly as it is. Just as our bodies move through different shapes and sensations on the mat, life is constantly moving and changing around us.

Our job isn't to control every outcome.
Our job is simply to show up each day, stay present, keep our hearts open, and do our best.
And then… let go.
Trust that what is meant to unfold will unfold in its own time.
Trust the process.
Trust God.
Keep your head up.
Keep your heart focused on what matters.
Keep showing up.

The moon doesn't disappear when we can't see it. It is simply moving through another phase.
And so are you. ❤

This phase will pass.
Keep doing your best.
God has the rest.

Coming Back Together

As summer begins to wind down and we settle back into our fall routines, I’m reminded of one of the things I love most about Mindful Movement—community.

In yoga, we have a beautiful word for this: Kula.

Kula is often translated as “community,” “family,” or “a group of people who come together with a shared purpose.” Yoga reminds us that our practice isn’t meant to happen in isolation. We grow through connection—with ourselves, with one another, and with the community around us.

Every time you walk through the studio doors, you strengthen our Kula. You bring your own energy, your own story, and your own presence to our community—and together, we create something greater than any one of us could create alone.
Whether you’ve been practicing with me for years or you’re stepping onto your mat for the very first time, you belong here.

As we move into this new season, I invite you to slow down, reconnect, and make space for what matters.

Come back hOMe—to yourself, to your practice, and to your Kula.

What Are You Walking Past?

There are times in our lives when we ignore the things that are important to us.
It’s a little like walking past a plant that needs to be watered. We notice that something needs our attention, but we tell ourselves, “I’ll take care of it later.”
And then one day, we walk past that plant and realize it’s no longer alive.

It makes me wonder…
What things are we walking past in our own lives?
Are we walking past our dreams because we’re too busy?
Are we walking past our relationships because we assume they’ll always be there?
Are we walking past ourselves because everyone else seems to need us first?
In yoga philosophy, Svadhyaya, or self-study, invites us to turn our awareness inward. To pause long enough to notice what is happening within us—and to become aware of what truly needs our attention.
Our yoga practice gives us that opportunity.

For a little while, we can step away from the noise and distractions of everyday life and turn our awareness toward ourselves. We can notice what has been neglected, what needs nurturing, and what we may have been walking past.
Because what we give our attention to, we give the opportunity to grow.

Take a moment to reset today.
Pause.
Look inward.
Ask yourself: What in my life needs a little more attention, care, or love?
And then, instead of telling yourself “I’ll do it later,” perhaps take one small step toward tending to it today.
Come back to what matters.
Come back to yourself.
Water the things you want to grow.
We are rooting for you. ❤

What If You Tried Something Different?

If we truly want to create change in our lives, sometimes we have to think beyond the environment we’re comfortable in.

If we continue doing the same things over and over again while expecting different results, we’re likely to end up disappointed. Because if nothing changes, nothing changes.

Yoga invites us to step outside of our comfort zones and explore new possibilities. It teaches us to quiet the mind rather than continually ruminate on where we are, what has happened, or how things have always been.

When the mind becomes still, we create space to see possibilities we may have overlooked—and blessings that have been surrounding us all along.
To get different, we have to be willing to think differently.
So this week, try something new.

~ Work on a different Yoga pose this week.
~ Change your route to work.
~ Try a new food or activity.
~ Even brush your teeth with your other hand!

Small deviations from our normal routines encourage us to create new neural pathways and become more comfortable with change. At first, something unfamiliar may feel awkward or even uncomfortable. But the more we practice stepping outside of what we know, the less intimidating new experiences become.
And perhaps that small change can remind you of something much bigger:
You are capable of more than you think.
Sometimes the first step toward a new life is simply being willing to try something new.

Step outside your routine.
Open your mind.
Explore what’s possible.
We’re rooting for you. Always. 💯

Sometimes life closes a door we desperately wanted to walk through.
A relationship ends.
A job doesn’t work out.
A dream takes a different direction.
An opportunity disappears.

And in that moment, it can be difficult to see anything good in it. We wonder, “Why did this happen? What did I do wrong? What am I supposed to do now?”
But sometimes, we simply aren't meant to see the whole picture yet.

Yoga teaches us the beautiful practice of Ishvara Pranidhana—surrendering our attachment to the outcome and trusting something greater than ourselves.

It doesn't mean we stop trying.
It doesn't mean we give up on our dreams.
It means we do our best, stay present, keep our hearts open, and trust that we don't have to control every step of the journey.
Because sometimes, what feels like an ending is actually a redirection.

Stop fighting the direction your life is trying to move in and just flow. ❤
