We are excited to begin preparing for our 9th Annual Festival of Trees, taking place December 3rd at the Holiday Inn Vanderbilt in Nashville!

📅 Festival: December 3rd
🎄 Set-Up: November 30th
✨ Tear down: January 4th
📍 Location: Holiday Inn Vanderbilt, Nashville, TN

📣 Families in the Knoxville Area — We Want to Hear From You!

The Arc Davidson County & Greater Nashville will be participating in the Effective Policing Conference: Autism, taking place October 13–14 in Knoxville, Tennessee, at the Knoxville Convention Center.

As part of the conference, we will be hosting the Parent Perspective Breakout Session, and we need your help! 💙

We are looking for families who are willing to share their experiences with law enforcement and help provide education, insight, and real-life perspectives that can make a difference.

We want to hear about:

✨ Positive experiences and successful outcomes
✨ Solutions that worked for your family
✨ Lessons learned along the way
✨ Challenges that led to positive change
✨ What law enforcement, families, and communities can learn from one another
✨ Ideas for how we can continue to grow and improve

There’s an Academic and Behavioral Learning Certificate Program through DDA in partnership with Trevecca Nazarene University. It’s designed for teachers working with students with IDD—and the best part is, it’s completely FREE!

✨ Program Highlights:
✔️ No cost to teachers
✔️ Self-paced (about 12 weeks)
✔️ Earn professional development credit hours
✔️ Open to all licensed teachers (not just special education)
✔️ Space available

This is a fantastic way for educators to grow their skills and better support students. Feel free to share with anyone who could benefit! 💙

On Friday, April 10th, we celebrated an incredible group of students — Their Story, Their Success! 🎉

Each of these members entered the MAPS program with personal goals they wanted to achieve over three years. With the support of their families, coordinators, and ICs, every student successfully reached 6–9 major milestones along their journey.

Today, we are proud to see these young adults:
✨ Working in their communities
✨ Gaining independence at home for extended periods
✨ Using technology for support and safety
✨ Cooking meals on their own
✨ Managing their own medications

These are individuals who once relied fully on staff or family — and now are thriving with confidence and independence!

We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished. 💙

We are so proud to attend another luncheon for Empower Me Center. It’s incredible to watch the program grow and see the impact it continues to make in the community.
