Winter is Vata season — and if you're feeling dry, anxious, or restless right now, your body is telling you something important. 🍂

In Ayurveda, Vata (the wind dosha) is naturally high when it's cold and dry outside. Your skin, digestion, and nervous system can all become imbalanced if you're not intentionally grounding yourself during these months.

Here's what I tell my clients: winter isn't the time to strip your skin bare or rely on harsh routines. Instead, it's time to nourish deeply.

Three ways to keep Vata balanced right now:

💧 Abhyanga (warm oil bodywork) — I recommend sesame or ghee-based oils applied to your whole body before a warm shower. This grounds your nervous system and locks moisture into your skin.

✨ Shirodhara (warm oil flowing gently over your forehead) — this releases tension held in your head and calms racing thoughts.

🍲 Warm, grounding meals — think kitchari, bone broths, and root vegetables. Cold smoothies? Save those for summer.

Your Skin-Body Type matters here too. If you have a Vata-dominant constitution, winter requires even more intentional self-care to prevent that dry, sensitive, or reactive skin.

The key: work *with* the season, not against it.

What's your biggest winter skin challenge right now? Let me know — I'd love to help you understand what's really happening beneath the surface. 🤍

You start an Ayurvedic protocol — and then what? 🤔

Often, clients expect dramatic skin changes overnight. But here's what actually happens: real healing shows up differently.

With my clients, I watch for these signs that their Skin-Body Type is rebalancing:

✨ Digestion improves first (less bloating, clearer bowels) — because skin heals from the inside out.

✨ Energy stabilizes (less afternoon crashes, steadier mood) — your doshas are finding balance.

✨ Skin texture softens before color evens (you'll notice less dryness or oiliness depending on your type).

✨ Cravings shift (suddenly you don't want that heavy, inflammatory food anymore) — your body's wisdom is returning.

✨ Sleep deepens (falling asleep faster, waking more refreshed) — Ama (those toxins from poor digestion) is clearing.

These subtle wins? They're the real markers of progress. They mean your body isn't just looking different — it's *functioning* differently.

I always tell people: expect 6-8 weeks to see meaningful skin shifts, because we're addressing root causes, not slapping on a topical band-aid.

If you're on a protocol and noticing ANY of these signs, your healing journey is working. Trust the process.

What sign have you noticed first in your own body? 💫

Your skin tells a story—and that story is unique to you.

At MySelf Ayurvedic Spa in Natick, we don't believe in one-size-fits-all facials. Instead, we use Ayurvedic principles to understand your individual Skin-Body Type and create a personalized healing journey for your complexion.

Here's what sets our approach apart: most facials address surface symptoms. We go deeper. During your consultation, I assess your Vata, Pitta, and Kapha balance to understand what's really happening beneath your skin. Is your dryness caused by a Vata imbalance? Is your redness rooted in excess Pitta? Once we identify the root cause, we customize every step—from herbal formulations to therapeutic techniques—to bring your skin back into harmony.

Your Ayurvedic facial at our Natick location includes:

A full Skin-Body Type assessment to understand your unique constitution
Customized herbal cleansing and exfoliation tailored to your dosha
Targeted application of Ayurvedic oils and plant-based formulations
Guidance on at-home practices to support your healing

Whether you're managing sensitivity, congestion, or imbalance, this personalized approach helps your skin respond from the inside out.

We're located at 35 Sherman Street in Natick, and we'd love to meet you. Call us at (339) 208-1788 to schedule your consultation, or stop by to learn more about how Ayurvedic facial care can shift your skin health.

Ever wonder why your dermatologist can't figure out why your skin keeps breaking out — even after trying every prescribed cream?

Here's the difference: a conventional dermatologist looks at your skin as an isolated organ. They see the inflammation, the bacteria, the texture — and treat the symptom.

As an Ayurvedic Doctor and licensed esthetician, I look deeper. I ask: *Why* is your skin inflamed? Where is the root cause?

Often, it's not your skin at all — it's your digestion. It's an imbalance in your Pitta dosha (your fire energy) that's creating inflammation from the inside out. It's undigested food creating Ama (toxins) that your body is trying to expel through your skin.

That's why the conventional approach can feel like you're chasing your tail. You're treating the symptom, not the source.

With my 10 Skin-Body Types framework, I identify YOUR unique skin nature — your specific dosha pattern — and create a healing journey that addresses digestion, emotions, lifestyle, AND topical care. All working together.

Your skin didn't break out overnight. It won't heal overnight either. But when you work with your body's intelligence instead of against it, real change happens.

Do you feel like you've been bouncing between different skincare advice without real answers? That's the sign you need a root-cause approach. 🌿

Let's figure out what your skin is actually trying to tell you.

Spring is nature's reset button — and your skin is literally begging for one. 🌱

Here's what I see in my practice every March: clients with congestion, dullness, and breakouts they didn't have in winter. Why? Because spring aggravates Kapha dosha (the earth energy) — and that buildup shows up first on your face.

The Ayurvedic answer isn't a juice cleanse or a 7-day detox tea. It's Kitchari.

Kitchari is a simple, nourishing meal of mung beans, rice, and mild spices — designed to gently clear Ama (those toxins from undigested food) without shocking your system. I recommend a 3-5 day Kitchari cleanse every spring to reset your digestion and, honestly, watch your skin brighten within days.

**Here's the basic protocol:**

Day 1-3: Eat only Kitchari (breakfast, lunch, dinner) + warm water with lemon. Ghee is your friend.

Day 4-5: Reintroduce one simple, cooked vegetable per meal.

Day 6+: Slowly return to your normal eating pattern.

What happens? Your digestive fire (Agni) rebuilds. Ama clears. Bloating eases. Your skin? It reflects that inner clarity — less inflammation, better radiance, clearer complexion.

Now, the Kitchari cleanse works best when you know your Skin-Body Type. A Vata-dominant person might need warming ghee and extra minerals. A Pitta type might benefit from cooling herbs. That's where a consultation helps — we customize the cleanse to your unique constitution.

Spring reset ready? 💚

That red, angry acne finally cleared up—so why is your skin still angry? 🔴

Post-inflammatory redness and those stubborn marks aren't just cosmetic leftovers. In Ayurveda, we call this *Pitta imbalance*—excess heat and inflammation lingering in your skin's deeper layers long after the breakout heals.

Here's what most people miss: your acne didn't start with bacteria on your face. It started in your gut.

When your digestive fire (called *Agni* in Ayurveda) is sluggish or overactive, undigested food creates toxins called *Ama*. That buildup travels to your skin, creating inflammation. Even after you clear the active pimples, the underlying imbalance remains—so the redness lingers and marks deepen.

This is exactly why your Skin-Body Type matters.

If you're a Pitta-dominant type, your skin runs hot. You're prone to deeper inflammation, more severe scarring, and longer-lasting redness. A Vata-Kapha type might heal faster but experience different post-acne patterns altogether.

My acne program doesn't just target the breakouts—it cools that Pitta fire, restores healthy digestion, and supports your skin's natural healing from the inside out. That means the redness fades faster, marks fade deeper, and breakouts don't come roaring back.

Your skin's memory is long. But so is healing, when you address the root. ✨

Here's what most acne clinics get wrong: they're fighting the bumps, pustules, and inflammation on your skin—but they're not asking *why* they showed up in the first place.

I'm a licensed esthetician AND Ayurvedic Doctor, and I've been trained in both modern skincare science and ancient root-cause healing. That's why my acne approach is different.

When I work with acne clients, we don't just apply spot protocols. We map your unique Skin-Body Type—your individual nature made up of three energies called Vata, Pitta, and Kapha (think: wind, fire, and earth). Your acne is a message from your body. It tells me where your digestion is struggling, how your bile is flowing, and where toxins called Ama are building up.

A fiery, inflamed Pitta imbalance (excess fire) shows up as angry cystic acne. A scattered, dry Vata imbalance creates congestion. A sluggish Kapha imbalance leads to thick, oily breakouts.

Same skin condition. Three completely different root causes. Three completely different healing paths.

My acne program combines targeted herbal formulations, personalized nutrition guidance, and lifestyle shifts that actually address *your* imbalance—not just everyone's acne. That's when real, lasting change happens.

If you're tired of acne protocols that don't work for your unique body, let's talk about what your skin is actually trying to tell you. 🌿

Your skin just erupted in bumps after starting a new protocol—and you're wondering: am I purging or breaking out? 🤔

Here's the thing: the difference matters *a lot*, because it changes how you respond.

**Purging** is your skin's way of accelerating the release of congestion that was already there. When you use active ingredients (like retinol or exfoliating acids), you're essentially speeding up your skin's natural cell turnover. New bumps appear in areas where you *already* had clogged pores—usually your typical problem zones. Purging typically lasts 2-4 weeks, then clarity follows. It's temporary, and it's actually a *sign* the protocol is working.

**Breaking out** is different. New bumps pop up in places you don't normally get acne. It might be a reaction to an ingredient your skin doesn't tolerate, or it could signal a deeper imbalance—what I see in Ayurveda as congestion rooted in poor digestion and accumulated toxins (Ama).

Here's what I tell my acne clients: **where the bumps appear tells the story.**

From my Skin-Body Type framework, I've noticed that clients with a Pitta imbalance tend to experience inflammatory breakouts (angry, red, pustular), while Kapha types see more congestion and cystic bumps. Vata-imbalanced skin often shows signs of sensitivity and reactivity.

The real question isn't just "is this purging?"—it's *why is this happening?* And that starts with understanding your unique Skin-Body Type and what's triggering congestion from the inside out.

If you're unsure whether you're purging or breaking out, that's exactly what I help clients navigate. Your skin is always communicating. Let's learn to listen. 💚

One of the biggest mistakes I see? 🚩

People overdo acne treatments, damage their skin barrier, create even more problems… and then blame the products.

Too much exfoliation, too many acids, too much Benzoyl Peroxide too fast… and the skin becomes more inflamed, reactive, red, and cystic.

In this carousel, I explain:
✨ how I combine holistic support + advanced acne correction
✨ why Mandelic Acid + Benzoyl Peroxide work together like a tango
✨ how to test if your skin barrier is healthy enough for actives
✨ why dosage and timing matter more than “stronger” products

From an Ayurvedic perspective, cystic acne is usually a combination of aggravated Kapha (deep congestion) + Pitta (inflammation).

This means we need to reduce BOTH — while protecting the skin barrier at the same time.

There are no bad products.
There is wrong timing, wrong dosing, and wrong combinations.
