That red, angry acne finally cleared up—so why is your skin still angry? 🔴

Post-inflammatory redness and those stubborn marks aren't just cosmetic leftovers. In Ayurveda, we call this *Pitta imbalance*—excess heat and inflammation lingering in your skin's deeper layers long after the breakout heals.

Here's what most people miss: your acne didn't start with bacteria on your face. It started in your gut.

When your digestive fire (called *Agni* in Ayurveda) is sluggish or overactive, undigested food creates toxins called *Ama*. That buildup travels to your skin, creating inflammation. Even after you clear the active pimples, the underlying imbalance remains—so the redness lingers and marks deepen.

This is exactly why your Skin-Body Type matters.

If you're a Pitta-dominant type, your skin runs hot. You're prone to deeper inflammation, more severe scarring, and longer-lasting redness. A Vata-Kapha type might heal faster but experience different post-acne patterns altogether.

My acne program doesn't just target the breakouts—it cools that Pitta fire, restores healthy digestion, and supports your skin's natural healing from the inside out. That means the redness fades faster, marks fade deeper, and breakouts don't come roaring back.

Your skin's memory is long. But so is healing, when you address the root. ✨

Ready to understand your Skin-Body Type and why your acne keeps coming back? Let's talk.

Here's what most acne clinics get wrong: they're fighting the bumps, pustules, and inflammation on your skin—but they're not asking *why* they showed up in the first place.

I'm a licensed esthetician AND Ayurvedic Doctor, and I've been trained in both modern skincare science and ancient root-cause healing. That's why my acne approach is different.

When I work with acne clients, we don't just apply spot protocols. We map your unique Skin-Body Type—your individual nature made up of three energies called Vata, Pitta, and Kapha (think: wind, fire, and earth). Your acne is a message from your body. It tells me where your digestion is struggling, how your bile is flowing, and where toxins called Ama are building up.

A fiery, inflamed Pitta imbalance (excess fire) shows up as angry cystic acne. A scattered, dry Vata imbalance creates congestion. A sluggish Kapha imbalance leads to thick, oily breakouts.

Same skin condition. Three completely different root causes. Three completely different healing paths.

My acne program combines targeted herbal formulations, personalized nutrition guidance, and lifestyle shifts that actually address *your* imbalance—not just everyone's acne. That's when real, lasting change happens.

If you're tired of acne protocols that don't work for your unique body, let's talk about what your skin is actually trying to tell you. 🌿

What's your acne story? Are you still searching for the right approach?

Your skin just erupted in bumps after starting a new protocol—and you're wondering: am I purging or breaking out? 🤔

Here's the thing: the difference matters *a lot*, because it changes how you respond.

**Purging** is your skin's way of accelerating the release of congestion that was already there. When you use active ingredients (like retinol or exfoliating acids), you're essentially speeding up your skin's natural cell turnover. New bumps appear in areas where you *already* had clogged pores—usually your typical problem zones. Purging typically lasts 2-4 weeks, then clarity follows. It's temporary, and it's actually a *sign* the protocol is working.

**Breaking out** is different. New bumps pop up in places you don't normally get acne. It might be a reaction to an ingredient your skin doesn't tolerate, or it could signal a deeper imbalance—what I see in Ayurveda as congestion rooted in poor digestion and accumulated toxins (Ama).

Here's what I tell my acne clients: **where the bumps appear tells the story.**

From my Skin-Body Type framework, I've noticed that clients with a Pitta imbalance tend to experience inflammatory breakouts (angry, red, pustular), while Kapha types see more congestion and cystic bumps. Vata-imbalanced skin often shows signs of sensitivity and reactivity.

The real question isn't just "is this purging?"—it's *why is this happening?* And that starts with understanding your unique Skin-Body Type and what's triggering congestion from the inside out.

If you're unsure whether you're purging or breaking out, that's exactly what I help clients navigate. Your skin is always communicating. Let's learn to listen. 💚

One of the biggest mistakes I see? 🚩

People overdo acne treatments, damage their skin barrier, create even more problems… and then blame the products.

Too much exfoliation, too many acids, too much Benzoyl Peroxide too fast… and the skin becomes more inflamed, reactive, red, and cystic.

In this carousel, I explain:
✨ how I combine holistic support + advanced acne correction
✨ why Mandelic Acid + Benzoyl Peroxide work together like a tango
✨ how to test if your skin barrier is healthy enough for actives
✨ why dosage and timing matter more than “stronger” products

From an Ayurvedic perspective, cystic acne is usually a combination of aggravated Kapha (deep congestion) + Pitta (inflammation).

This means we need to reduce BOTH — while protecting the skin barrier at the same time.

There are no bad products.
There is wrong timing, wrong dosing, and wrong combinations.

Your skin's glow starts in your digestive fire — not in your skincare cabinet. 🔥

Here's what I see in my clinic: clients with congested, dull, or inflamed skin almost always have one thing in common — their digestion is sluggish, and toxins (what we call Ama in Ayurveda) are building up inside their body.

Spring is the perfect time to reset. And one of the most nourishing ways to support your digestive healing is through **Kitchari** — a gentle, deeply cleansing meal made from mung beans, rice, and mild spices.

Why Kitchari works for your skin:

✨ It's easy to digest (so your body can finally rest and repair, instead of working overtime)
✨ It naturally supports detoxification without being harsh or restrictive
✨ It balances all three doshas — Vata (wind), Pitta (fire), and Kapha (earth) — regardless of your Skin-Body Type
✨ It gives your system a chance to clear Ama, which is often the *root cause* behind acne, dullness, sensitivity, and uneven tone

Whether you're Vata-dominant (dry, sensitive skin), Pitta-prone (reactive, inflamed), or Kapha-leaning (congested, oily), Kitchari meets your body where it is.

I recommend Kitchari as part of a spring detox cleanse — not as a restriction, but as a reset. Even 3-5 days can shift how your skin feels and looks.

Your skin is reflecting what's happening on the inside. Ready to heal from the root? 🌱

Your skin is literally showing you what your liver is trying to tell you. 🔍

Ever noticed that breakouts, redness, or dull patches always seem to get worse at the same time? That's not random—it's your liver signaling it's overworked. In Ayurveda, we understand that clear skin starts with healthy bile flow. When bile stagnates or your liver is sluggish, toxins (what we call Ama in Ayurveda) back up and show up as inflammation on your face.

Here's what most skincare misses: you can apply all the serums and masks you want, but if your bile isn't moving and your digestion is sluggish, nothing topical will create lasting clarity.

The good news? This is fixable.

When I work with clients through my 10 Skin-Body Types framework, we identify whether their imbalance is rooted in Pitta (the fire element that governs digestion and bile flow). Someone with a Pitta-dominant Skin-Body Type often struggles with inflammatory skin because their liver and digestive fire are either too intense or stagnant—two sides of the same coin.

My healing protocols focus on:
→ Restoring healthy bile flow through herbal formulations (think milk thistle, turmeric, and liver-supporting herbs)
→ Rebuilding digestion so Ama doesn't accumulate
→ Cooling excess Pitta heat that creates redness and sensitivity

This is why a detox cleanse like Pancha Karma works so powerfully—it's not just about "cleansing." It's about resetting your liver function at the root.

Your skin is basically screaming at you—but not in the way you think. 🗣️

Those red bumps, that persistent dryness, the oily slick by midday? They're not random. They're messages from your body telling you something deeper is out of balance.

In Ayurveda, we don't just look at what's happening on your face. We listen to what your skin reveals about your digestion, your stress levels, even your emotional state.

Here's the thing: a breakout in your T-zone might mean your Pitta dosha (your fire energy) is running hot—maybe from excess heat in your eating plan or unprocessed emotions. Dry, flaky patches? That could be Vata (your wind energy) going out of balance, pulling moisture away from your skin. Congestion and cystic bumps often point to Kapha (your earth energy) buildup—sluggish digestion creating what we call Ama, or toxins.

I use our 10 Skin-Body Types framework to decode exactly which of your three doshas is creating your skin imbalance. Once we understand the root cause—not just the symptom—we can create a healing journey that actually works. ✨

Your skin isn't broken. It's communicating. The question is: are you listening?

What's your skin telling you right now?

Think all acne needs the same herbs?
👉 That’s why your protocol isn’t working.

There are 7 different acne types
(and yes… each one needs a different approach)

This post is about Cystic Acne (Kapha–Pitta type)
→ deep, painful, inflamed + congested

But here’s what most people miss 👇
Even the best herbs won’t work if they’re:
→ not matched to YOUR acne type
→ not combined correctly
→ not taken in the right sequence
→ or your digestion isn’t ready

For example:
Some herbs cool inflammation 🔥
Some break down congestion 🧱
Some support liver + bile flow
Some repair your gut lining first

👉 The order matters. The combination matters. YOU matter.

That’s why I never give “one-size-fits-all” protocols.

04/16/2026

You've tried every serum, every mask, every trending skincare line — and your skin still isn't responding the way you hoped. Here's why: you're treating the symptom, not the root cause.

In Ayurveda, we say skin is a mirror of your inner harmony. That stubborn acne, persistent dryness, sensitivity, or dullness? It's not failing because of the product. It's signaling an imbalance deeper in your body — usually in your digestion and how your body processes and eliminates toxins (what we call Ama).

Most skincare focuses on the surface. You cleanse, tone, treat — but if your digestion is sluggish, your bile flow is stuck, or your nervous system is overstimulated, your skin will keep reflecting that imbalance no matter what you apply topically.

This is where the 10 Skin-Body Types framework changes everything. Instead of a generic routine, I assess your unique constitution — your Vata (wind), Pitta (fire), or Kapha (earth) nature — to understand why your skin behaves the way it does. Someone with a Pitta imbalance shows up as inflamed, reactive skin. A Vata imbalance shows up as dehydrated, sensitive skin. Kapha? Congested, sluggish skin.

Once we understand your Skin-Body Type, we address the root cause: rebalancing your digestion, calming your specific dosha imbalance, and supporting your body's natural detox pathways.

Real healing takes patience. But it works.
