Today, we came together to celebrate Juneteenth with a powerful program that honored freedom, resilience, culture, and the enduring contributions of the Black community.

The celebration featured inspiring musical performances, prayers, a presentation on the history and significance of Juneteenth, and an energetic dance performance by the Harambee Dance Co. that captivated the audience and highlighted the richness of African and African American culture.

We were especially honored to welcome Senator Kevin Parker, whose leadership helped make Juneteenth an official New York State holiday. Thank you, Senator Parker, for joining us as we celebrated this important day and reflected on the progress that has been made while recognizing the work that still lies ahead.

A special thank you to MetroPlusHealth for their support of this celebration and their continued partnership in helping us engage and uplift the communities we serve.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this celebration so meaningful. Together, we honor the past, celebrate the present, and continue to build a more equitable future for all.

Yesterday, we celebrated Father’s Day a little early with an afternoon dedicated to relaxation, appreciation, and fun!

Staff enjoyed chair massages, manicures, delicious food, great music, and a friendly mini golf competition that brought out plenty of smiles and laughter. The event was a small way to recognize and thank the fathers, father figures, and all the dedicated team members who make a difference every day.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped create such a memorable celebration. We wish all fathers and father figures a Happy Father’s Day!

Last Thursday, Metropolitan Hospital proudly hosted its first-ever Golf Outing Fundraiser, bringing together healthcare leaders, community partners, supporters, and staff from across the NYC Health + Hospitals system for a memorable day of fellowship, friendly competition, and support for our mission.

We are grateful to our sponsors, ArchCare, Dr. Bechoy Abdelmalak, and Dr. Ashraf El-Shafei, whose generosity helped make this event possible. We also extend our sincere thanks to our community partners, New York Health Care, MetroPlusHealth, Healthfirst, MCU: Municipal Credit Union, and FirstBank, for their continued support and commitment to the communities we serve.

A special thank you to our colleagues from across the system who joined us, including Cristina Contreras, CEO of Lincoln Hospital; Georges Leconte, CEO of Harlem Hospital; and representatives from NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi | North Central Bronx, NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens, and NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull. Your presence helped make this inaugural event a tremendous success.

This outing was more than a day on the golf course—it was an opportunity to strengthen partnerships, celebrate collaboration, and invest in the future of Metropolitan Hospital. Thank you to everyone who participated, sponsored, volunteered, and supported this special event. We look forward to making this the first of many successful golf outings to come!

CEO Julian John proudly joined staff and community members at the 116th Street Puerto Rican Festival to celebrate Puerto Rican culture, heritage, and the vibrant spirit of East Harlem.

The festival was a wonderful opportunity to connect with the community we serve, support our staff, and take part in a longstanding tradition that honors the history and contributions of Puerto Ricans in our neighborhood.

At Metropolitan, we are proud to stand alongside our community and celebrate the diversity that strengthens us all.

Today, our staff showed up and showed out for Wear Orange Day!

Together, we wore orange to honor survivors, remember those impacted by gun violence, and raise awareness on National Gun Violence Awareness Day. The sea of orange throughout our hospital was a powerful reminder of our commitment to healthier, safer communities.
