Are anxious thoughts circling through your mind when trying to fall asleep? You are not alone. Many individuals struggle to fall asleep. A combination of factors, such as mental health and well-being, behavioral habits, and bodily relaxation, can affect your sleep. Our upcoming workshop, "Rest Assured: A CBT Workshop for Insomnia," will use a science-backed, evidence-based approach to teach you practical strategies to calm your mind and body, build better sleeping habits, and finally feel restored after a night of sleep.

Let’s talk about intimacy for 60 seconds. When we hear "intimacy," our minds jump straight to physical closeness. But true connection starts with feeling safe, seen, and appreciated. Before you can communicate what you need from a partner, you have to know what those needs actually are. Take one minute today to check in with yourself: What feels good? What is missing? You do not need all the answers right now. Simply getting curious about your own needs is a powerful first step toward deeper connection. Save this post for your next self-check-in, and share it with someone who needs this reminder today!

Fostering a healthy relationship doesn't mean there are never disagreements, challenges to face, or obstacles to overcome, but it does impact how we show up when issues arise.

So, that begs the question: if a healthy relationship doesn't look like some ideal, perfect couple, what does it look like and how do I know if I'm in one? Here are just a few things that are present in every healthy relationship.

What would you add to this list?

Though our culture of entertainment and social media has idealized relationships, relationships are not perfect! We may have an idea about what a relationship is “supposed” to look like, and become nervous when our lives do not live up to those expectations. However, relationships are unique to the people within them; negative emotions, experiences, and/or thoughts may arise, and these are completely normal. It takes effort and commitment to nourish a successful, enduring relationship.

We want to normalize the ups and downs of relationships and the work that goes into them. Seeking out couples therapy does not have to mean anything “bad”–it can help you strengthen your bond and better understand yourself and your relationship.

This week (October 11–17) is OCD Awareness Week.

OCD doesn't just affect the individual. It can also impact relationships. Intrusive thoughts, compulsions, and the anxiety they create can make communication, trust, and connection feel more challenging for everyone involved.

A supportive relationship isn't about providing constant reassurance or having all the answers. It's about approaching one another with empathy, understanding, and a willingness to learn. Whether you're living with OCD or supporting someone who is, remember: OCD is not a personality trait or a preference for cleanliness.

This week, let's replace myths with understanding and stigma with compassion.

💗 October 11 is National Coming Out Day. 🏳️‍🌈

Coming out is a deeply personal journey, and it looks different for everyone. Today, we recognize and celebrate those who have shared their stories, those who are still finding their voice, and those who are waiting until they feel safe and ready.

Everyone deserves to feel accepted, respected, and supported in their relationships and communities. Creating spaces of understanding and compassion is an important part of fostering mental well-being.

At Chamin Ajjan Psychotherapy, we are committed to providing an inclusive and affirming space where all individuals can feel welcomed and supported.

Today is a reminder to prioritize our mental well-being and check in with ourselves and those around us. Taking care of our mental health is just as important as caring for our physical health.

Access to quality mental health care is not a luxury—it's a universal necessity. By fostering open conversations, reducing stigma, and supporting one another, we can help create a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Let's continue to advocate for greater awareness, compassion, and access to mental health care.

The first week of October is Mental Illness Awareness Week (Oct. 4 to 10).

"Mental health issues are more common than many might think... it’s estimated that in 2023, 23% of adults in the U.S. experienced some form of mental illness (Mental Health America, 2024). These numbers indicate that nearly 1 in 4 people face mental health challenges each year, a statistic comparable to the number of adults affected by the flu annually (National Institutes of Health, 2016)."

October is ADHD Awareness Month!

ADHD is more than just difficulty focusing. It can affect your work, your home life, your relationships, your finances, and so much more.

For many people, ADHD goes unrecognized or misunderstood—especially when their challenges don’t fit the stereotypes we often hear about. Raising awareness helps foster understanding and support for all those affected by ADHD.

This month, we’re honoring the many ways ADHD can show up across different ages and experiences. Whether you’re newly exploring an ADHD diagnosis, learning to work with your brain, supporting a loved one, or simply seeking greater understanding, you don’t have to navigate it alone!
