More amazing benefits of Frankincense!

A fascinating new preclinical study looked at frankincense (Boswellia carterii) EO and anxiety-like behavior.

Researchers exposed subjects directly to water containing frankincense oil. At 50 and 100 μL/L, the oil significantly changed behaviors associated with anxiety, including reducing excessive movement and causing the subjects to spend more time in the center of the testing area rather than hugging the edges.

Interestingly, the oil was about 48% α-pinene, and isolated α-pinene—and both of its molecular forms—also produced anxiolytic-like effects.

The researchers found potential interactions with several brain-related receptors, particularly CB2, but emphasize that these mechanisms still need to be confirmed experimentally.

So, does frankincense reduce anxiety in humans? Not yet proven. But this study gives us another intriguing piece of evidence that the chemistry of frankincense may influence neurological pathways involved in stress and anxiety.https://pubs.acs.org/acsodf/article-pdf/11/32/47440/66305338/acsomega.6c01267.pdf
