On a beautiful fall day, forty years ago, two young girls met when their parents became neighbors.

They were very much alike. Both were good students. Both were very popular and went on to play high school softball.

And both - as teenagers often do - started experimenting with ๐Ÿšฌ๐Ÿšฌtogether.
The women recently returned home to visit relatives and ran into each other at the market.

They were still very much alike. Both were happily married. Both had 2 children. And both, it turned out, had pursued careers in healthcare.

Smokers who fear quitting often only hear:

And if a smoker secretly believes quitting is impossible, the brain becomes very efficient at collecting evidence to support that belief.

Have you ever watched a morbidly obese individual eating pizza๐Ÿ• or fast food๐Ÿ” and passed a pretty harsh judgment on them?

If you are a smoker and have ever said, "I enjoy smoking," how is that any different?

The fact is, both conditions are a form of human suffering rooted in addiction.

And it goes both ways.

People who suffer with obesity also look at smokers who wheeze, cough and carry oxygen with the same judgment.

And with the same curiosity about why they don't make changes in their life.

Just wanted you to chew on that for a few minutes.

Or put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Perspective is important.

If you believe "enjoying" smoking somehow gets you a pass on doing something hard, I hope you'll grant that same pass to someone else struggling with better choices.

There was once a smoker who didnโ€™t quit all at once. She fell out of love with smoking in stages.

The ci******es that once felt comforting started feeling heavier. More demanding. Less rewarding. Over time, she became fascinated by the gap between smokers wanting to quit and actually being able to do it.

In 2006, she began working exclusively with smokers. Not casually. Professionally. Deeply. She studied to***co dependence, behavior change, fear, resistance, shame, relapse, identity, and readiness. Eventually, she became a Mayo Clinicโ€“Certified To***co Treatment Specialist because she wanted to truly understand what smokers were up against.

Then in 2020, the pandemic forced her to close her business.

Most people would have seen an ending. She saw a problem that still needed solving.

So she hired a coach and rebuilt her dream from the ground up โ€” virtually.

Later that year, she launched the first and only professional to***co treatment ecosystem designed for smokers regardless of their current motivation.
